SBS acquires Scandi-drama, Fallen.

Upcoming crime drama reunites The Bridge showrunner Camilla Ahlgren and star Sofia Helin.

SBS has acquired Australian rights to Fallen a crime drama reuniting The Bridge screenwriter Camilla Ahlgren and star Sofia Helin.

Helin plays Iris Broman, the new head of Kalla Fall, a group solving cold cases in Malmö, Sweden. Iris has just left Stockholm following a tragedy and moved to the small southern town of Ystad, where she lives in her half-sister Kattis’ (Hedda Stiernstedt) house by the sea. But when Iris arrives in Skåne, a cold case becomes topical again and everything is turned upside down, intertwining the lives of several characters.

Created and written by Ahlgren along with Martin Asphaug and Alex Haridi, the six-part series is produced by Banijay-owned Filmlance. It is co-produced by TV4, Film i Skåne, in collaboration with ZDF.

“It’s affirming to see the series find its audience, and I’m proud that people around the world will now be able to watch it too,” Ahlgren continued.

A premiere is yet to be announced.

  1. This one only has a 6 on IMBD. Hans Rosenfeldt was the creator and show runner on The Bridge. Ahlgren was a staff writer credited with the story lines and 2 screen plays before she was promoted to head writer for S4, the one more that should never have been made.

      1. It’s just the typical puffery that is PR’s stock in trade, they did both work on Broen/Bron, there’s just some details they are skipping over. It creates content for Variety and some streaming for SBS. I will probably check out an episode after I finish Blanca just won’t be expecting too much.
