Marcia Hines recovering after “medical emergency”

"I’m very sorry that I’m not there with you all tonight," says showbiz legend Marcia Hines.

Australian Idol judge and showbiz legend Marcia Hines took to social media to reassure fans she was on the mend after a “medical emergency” after reportedly collapsing in a dressing room at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre in Rooty Hill on Sunday afternoon.

“I’m very sorry that I’m not there with you all tonight. It’s been a big few days of work and I was feeling a little unwell. I’m resting up now so I can be back with you all tomorrow night,” she said on Instagram.

During the Live Idol performance host Ricki-Lee Coulter told viewers,  You will have spotted that we are missing someone very important and very special to the Idol family. Unfortunately Marcia is unwell and unable to join us tonight.”

But Kyle Sandilands interjected to say, “Sorry, sorry. That’s a real downplay. She was taken out of here in an ambulance.”

He added, “Just so that everyone knows. She’s fine. She’s well. But she didn’t just ring up with a headache. She went down.”

Guy Sebastian stepped in as a guest judge in a slick Live episode which saw another Idol alumni, Shannon Noll, performing.

Marcia Hines, 70, was due to perform in the two part finale, but it’s not clear if that will proceed should she return to the finale tonight.

Denvah Baker-Moller from Rockhampton,  Amy Reeves from Broome, and Dylan Wright from the Northern Rivers are all competing for the 2024 title.

  1. Very tactless of Kyle to have no regard gir Narcia’s privacy or her family, who may not all have been aware of the situation. A huge betrayal of trust.

  2. I hope Marcia is feeling well enough to grace our screens tonight. Every performer did so well last night. I would be happy for anyone from the Top 3 to win. And I am currently obsessed with Guy/Sam’s collab – Antodote. IMHO, Guy is one of the greatest Idol vocalists in Australia.

So great to see both Guy and Shannon together – as Guy said – nostalgic!

  3. It was a real shock to only see two judges emerge from the stage; then Ricki Lee’s intro only to be jarred a couple of times by Kyle’s probably well intentioned but tactless comments. He really has no decorum at all.
Wishing Marcia a speedy recovery and the hope that all is ok, and that she can resume performing as soon as possible. I would doubt if she would sing tonight on the results finale, she may even be beamed in from somewhere else for a segment, possibly even pre-recorded.

I hope there’s at least that. Marcia Shines!
