Longtime 10 Floor Manager Ray Lindsay, who worked on Prisoner and Neighbours, has died.

He passed away peacefully at home last Sunday in Melbourne.

Ray worked for  . His parents were acrobat / dancers with George Wallace’s company in the vaudeville days. They moved on to The Tivoli and also worked in the IMT television days.

Ray got his first theatre job at The Tiv and worked as Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager at JC Williamsons Theatrical Productions in the 1960s on productions such as Camelot. He would work at The Comedy and Palais theatres as well as fly-man and mech on such shows as Paris By Night, The Black and White Minstrels and The Merry Widow. At The Princess theatre he met his wife Sue who was dancing on Carousel.

He was offered at job at ATV-0 but also managed to work nights on stage productions such as Robert and Elizabeth at the same time. He worked up to being one of the stage hands at 10, then Floor Manager, later becoming head of the department.

His credits at 10 include The Box, Prisoner, Neighbours and Col’n Carpenter amongst others.

Rob ‘Belvedere’ Mascara said, “In my eyes, Ray Lindsay was the godfather of TV production. Growing up and seeing his credit on Prisoner for so many years then being offered a job by Ray in January 1990 at ATV 10 Melbourne on Neighbours at the age of 17, was a dream come true. A great mentor, a true professional and an absolute gentleman. RIP Mr Lindsay.”
