Denise Drysdale has left the jungle…

"Can I thank people who voted me out?" joked TV legend as punishing conditions came to an end in South Africa.

TV legend Denise Drysdale has been eliminated from I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

It was a case of last one in, first one out, as the eliminations got underway in South Africa.

Drysdale, 75, looked happy to be eliminated over campmates former ironwoman Candice Warner and paralympian Ellie Cole.

“Can I thank people who voted me out? If I see you anywhere, come up and say hello, I’ll buy you a drink!” she joked.

Jungle life was challenging for show’s oldest ever participant, swapping the comforts of home for staple rice and beans, sleeping on a stretcher, eating Vom Appetite ‘delicacies’ and enduring a long drop toilet.

But she shared stories of vintage television days, and made new friends, especially with UK reality hunk Callum Hole.

Remarkably, Drysdale remains one of the few TV faces from the 1960s to still be featuring in primetime television in 2024.

She also raised awareness of her chosen charity, Gotcha4Life addressing men’s mental health.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here is now eliminating a participant (or two) every episode in the run up to its finale on April 21.

  1. Suprised and disappointed with Denise’s elimination… I thought she’d have a real chance of winning. I wonder if this will have an impact on ratings as I would have thought she was a genuine draw card.

    1. No she was going to be the first to leave. It wasn’t because of the public voting it was most likely due to her contract. If you noticed that she looked happy to leave and not at all surprised.

        1. That’s what I was told on Facebook on their official page. Here’s what ti
I was told: (their words not mine). “she was always going to go first. Probably In her contract because she only had to stay a minimum 72 hours to be paid her full fee. She didn’t even look surprised and looked happy to go . Let’s face it she would never have been able to do the trials . Nothing to do with the audience vote. “

          1. Wow, no way is that an official response.

That response is just from a regular user just like you. Not from anyone working in any official capacity with 10/I’m a celebrity.

If the user who commented that has the ‘I’m a celebrity name, etc’ in their account name then you’ve stumbled upon a fan page. The official page is at facebook.com/ImaCelebrityAU

        2. Unfortunately, David, even with your (fantastic) interview, you won’t be able to convince the conspiracy theorists that they’re wrong. Why let the truth ruin a good conspiracy theory? Denise did exceptionally well and seemed genuinely relieved to have been voted out. Kudos to her!!

  2. I’m not sure if her contract allows her to leave first. But if it doesn’t, her surprise is misplaced. On the show, she defended and made excuses for men’s behavior during discussions about the Me Too movement. Yucky!

    1. Careful. If you read a recent interview I posted she referred to that “Harvey Weinstein bastard” so your phrasing is generalising and I feel misplaced. There was a discussion about how men don’t know how to behave post MeToo, linked to the charity she is supporting.

  3. Denise. Legend. She gave her best even though you could see it wasn’t easy for her, considering her health issues the last few years. We all know someone that could take a leaf out of her book, right KAK?
