Postcards: April 14

Guest presenter Shaynna Blaze visits the Bendigo Art Gallery for the Paris: Impressions of Life exhbition.

Two guest presenters join Nine’s Postcards this weekend in Melbourne.

Shaynna Blaze from The Block shows us what happens when Paris comes to Bendigo (Dja Dja Wurrung Country). She visits the Bendigo Art Gallery to check out the exclusive new exhibition, Paris: Impressions of Life 1880-1925, which features a stunning mix of artefacts and artworks that take you on a fabulous, magical Parisian journey. She then heads to the Old Green Bean for a bite and a taste of their in-house roasted coffee.

This week Lauren Phillips shares the presenting role with Postcards’ other special guest, her Nova 100 breakfast radio counterpart, Jason Hawkins, for a day out exploring their work-hood in South Melbourne (Boonwurrung & Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). Jase & Lauren sit down for coffee and brunch at Dead Man Espresso before heading down the street to let off some steam at Lumber Punks Axe Throwing. They finish off their day with a beer at South Melbourne’s newest rooftop bar, Brewmanity, and a chat with Co-founder and former Melbourne Football Club captain, David Neitz.

Meanwhile, Livinia Nixon is in the CBD (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) for a backstage sneak peek of Chicago the Musical at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Livinia meets Zoë Ventoura and Peter Rowsthorn who play Velma Kelly and Amos. Afterwards she explores the venues in the Collins Street Precinct getting into the spirit of the show, like The George on Collins which is offering a special pre-theatre spread with a Chicago-themed cocktail: the Razzle Dazzle. Also serving up themed cocktails is the New York-inspired Parisian bistro, Bar Margaux. Then Livinia takes a curtain call with The Sofitel Melbourne’s Chicago package.

And we find Madeline Spark strolling down Hampton Street, Bayside (Boonwurrung Country). Starting at the Brighton end, she checks out the delicious handmade pasta at a local favourite, The Italian Chef. From there she’s off to the “coastal” cafe Lennox 3188 before grabbing a coffee at Eclair. Her last stop is B & T Pets where she meets owner Katie Zac who takes pet pampering to the next level.

5.30pm Sunday on Nine (Melbourne).
