Ex-OzTAM boss joins Foxtel Media

Doug Peiffer is joining Foxtel Media as a senior adviser for its new audience measurement system.

Former OzTAM chief executive officer Doug Peiffer is joining Foxtel Media as a senior adviser for its new audience measurement system.

When Foxtel last year announced its plans to introduce its own audience measurement via data drawn from its set top box it sent ripple through the industry.

Kantar Media has been commissioned by Foxtel to collect viewing data through around one million Foxtel set-top boxes using return path data.  At the time newly-installed OzTAM CEO noted it “poses the risk of confusion in the market.”

Peiffer left OzTAM last July, prior to OzTAM’s announce, after 12 years in the role.

Mark Frain, the CEO of Foxtel Media, said, “Doug is one of the few experts globally with the background and deep technical knowledge to bring Australian measurement into the new age of media, and we are lucky to have him join the team.”

Doug Peiffer said, “The Foxtel Group’s suite of powerful media assets makes them uniquely qualified to pull apart the intricacies of audience measurement and create something truly special.

“Given the group’s strong history with broadcast, streaming and rich data tapestry, they are well placed to leverage this information.”
