Meanwhile, Nine opened its new Canberra studio…
Other events may have upstaged a new studio, but there were also formalities to be done last week.

Nine formally opened its new Nine News studio at Parliament House last week, although the event was upstaged by Peter Costello’s arrival at Canberra Airport and surrounding headlines.
PM Anthony Albanese opened the studios last week (having opened new Seven News studios last August), joined by new Head of News & Current Affairs Fiona Dear, Director of Television Michael Healy, Sydney News Director Simon Hobbs, Melbourne News Director Hugh Nailon and Director of Communications Victoria Buchan.
A plaque read: “Nine Parliament House Bureau, Studio & Offices officially opened June 7 2024 by Prime Minister Hon. Anthony Albanese MP. The journalistic base for 9News, the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and the Australian Financial Review.”

9 Canberra is a WIN affiliate. It has its own 30 minutes of ACT news at 5:30 M-F, 9 News Sydney 6-7.
… but the Parliament House bureau is 9, not WIN …
Perhaps I should have written more.
WIN Canberra is at 84 Wentworth Av, Kingston, however WIN Canberra News is produced at and read from the Wollongong HQ by Bruce Roberts. WIN has no need to use the Nine Parliament House bureau. They have their own camera crews and teams based at Kingston.
Does this mean Canberra gets its local nine news now?
It’s a bureau, so will be mostly live crosses such as Charles Croucher etc.
Ah got it. And just checking the tas nine news, has that been scrapped all together
Seems so. Would be a costly exercise for Nine to produce a separate 6pm
Nine News bulletin for Tas. to be broadcast by WIN unless WIN was prepared to share the cost. Unlikely.
WIN may have been keen on the idea though as it would have eliminated the need for WIN’s 5:30pm local news. But it seems Tas will continue with WIN’s Tasmania News at 5:30 and GTV9 News at 6.
SydneyTV. Canberra has a local news service but it comes from Wollongong.
