Seven reporter confirms “I’ve been sacked”

Senior reporter Robert Ovadia told media he has been sacked after 23 years with Seven.

Senior Seven News reporter Robert Ovadia has confirmed his sacking from the network.

“Yes I’ve been sacked and there will be more to say about that in the appropriate forum at the appropriate time,” Ovadia told The Australian.

On June 7th Ovadia was stood down pending an investigation, with reports suggesting the matter involved emails exchanged four years ago with a former employee.

Ovadia has now engaged high-profile lawyer John Laxon to represent him.

Seven said earlier this month: “Seven is conducting an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour by Robert Ovadia.”

There is no suggestion those allegations have been proven.

A former 10 News reporter, Ovadia joined Seven News in 2000, just after the 2000 Olympic Games.

His departure is the latest in a line of exits from Seven News with more tipped to be coming.

Seven has today been contacted for comment.
