Seven Types of Ambiguity to be remade as Arabic drama
Aussie drama which screened on ABC with Hugo Weaving, Susie Porter and Alex Dimitriades is being remade by Qatar-based production co.

Australian TV drama Seven Types of Ambiguity, which screened on ABC in 2017, is getting an Arabic adaptation.
The drama, described as an exploration of the risks people will go to in the name of love is based on the novel by Elliot Perlman and surrounds a missing child.
Originally produced by Matchbox Pictures, it featured Hugo Weaving, Alex Dimitriades, Xavier Samuel, Leeanna Walsman, Andrea Demetriades, Anthony Hayes, and Susie Porter.
Told from the shifting perspective of seven characters, it is now titled Mirage or alternately (Sarab) in Arabic, produced for beIN Media Group’s TOD streaming platform.
Each episode of the ten-part Rashomon-like show is told from a different point of view..
Qatar-based powerhouse beIN Media Group – a co-owner of U.S. indie studio Miramax – has partnered with prominent regional production company S Productions on the project in association with Universal International Studios.
“We’re very pleased and excited to be working on such a big production in the Middle East, building bridges and bringing stories from global to local,” Mia Edde, VP of original content at beIN Media Group, said in a statement. Edde added that being the first Seven Types of Ambiguity redo “is a milestone for us,” noting that the adaptation will be “in the lens of the Arabic culture, adding a different depth and dimension to its narrative.”

I really enjoyed this series and wish the ABC made more like this!
You mean commissioned. The ABC hasn’t made any drama since the early 90s.
There have been children’s dramas made internally, but yes the overwhelming bulk is commissioned with independent producers.
