  1. First clues have been revealed for I’m a Celebrity 2024: a controversial TV star (possible clue to a ‘roving reporter’), a gold medallist and an international comedian (who has performed for royalty).

  2. I hope one day channel 9 commissions an Australian version of naked attraction , it’s very popular in Europe, although it would probably be a 9now exclusive because it would be too naughty for a linear broadcast

    1. They showed the British version on FTA here-has only recently been on US pay TV where it makes their equivalents look very tame in comparison and has proved popular there.

  3. Does anyone know the day when new eps drop on te play for the us version of the traitors? I see the new eps are on in the us, but there is a lag with tenplay

    1. Sorry I don’t know for sure but I know it is on in US about midday our time on Fridays so you would think they would have it on by Friday evening. 10 play used to be good with Survivor SA showing it only about an hour or so after it finished in SA. I read it is the finale this week also but there seems to be a lot of contestants left? Hope this helps a little bit or just more confusing lol

  4. “Sports Sunday” returns to Channel Nine this Sunday at 10am. But it has reverted back to the “Wide World Of Sports” title, last used in 2016. Any reasons to why the name change?

  5. Was wondering if you might be doing a write-up or at least a heads up/where to watch article on Dick Wolf’s new procedural “Law & Order: Toronto – Criminal Intent”? A Candaian-set remake of the acclaimed, award winning and fan cult fave original CI that ran for a decade in the 2000s starring Vincent D’Onofrio. I believe on Foxtel/Binge next week, potentially Seven in future too. Early reviews haven’t been great, being compared unfavourably to the OG.

  6. Any idea when 7 is going to start airing the final season of the good doctor (which has already started airing in the US)? Also, I believe it is going to be a shortened season, mostly due to the writers and actors strikes in 2023, 10 episodes or so is reportely, down from 18-20.

      1. Last I read 13 eps, but apparently down to 10 now. A lot of shows are going to shorted, cancelled or shown is odd episode blocks because of the strikes, and the fact that none of them are going to make any money anymore.

  7. Tonight’s rage is the last in their retro season. Which means no more Countdown, GTK, Rock Arena, etc until next January or February.
Simpsons creator Matt Groening turned 70 on February 15!

  8. Looking forward to seeing 40,000+ Australians at the first ever WWE pay-per-view event in this country on Saturday night in Perth! It’s great we will get to watch it through Foxtel/Binge/Kayo, although that may change next year (or some time soon after) with WWE’s recently announce Netflix deal.

  9. I had contacted SBS about their new SBS Chill visual live-stream on On-Demand. It was mainly about repetitive visuals. SBS says that it is due to limitations. I’d guess that it might be software or data limitations. If it’s content, it wouldn’t be too difficult to set up cameras in random locations for visual chill content. In any case, it’s very good to have this content. And who knows, the SBS Chill visual channel could be on digital TV one day. Another potentially underrated channel at the moment.

  10. Great newsletter this week. Nice to see a network being so inviting, as well as all the goss from that new vod launch. And in regards to the departing journey, if I’m not mistaken, was always nice to see a long-timer for entertainment not based in Sydney or Melbourne (I believe Perth Now/ West Aussie also still do local TV articles and sometimes the odd local ratings – mostly a thing of yesteryear!)

  11. Season 3 of Taskmaster Australia is currently filming its tasks, with studio audience filming returning to Sydney soon according to That’s The Ticket.

Also, Hunted season 3 started filming yesterday.

  12. Courier Mail is reporting that Channel 9 is after the services of one of Australia’s most-experienced sports broadcasters to be part of its Paris Olympic commentary team after being unsuccessful in luring Bruce McAvaney. Gerard Whateley from SEN radio is believed to be that person.

      1. If it’s not captioned I won’t/can’t watch it. Thankfully the old L&O family is captioned, presumably due to some odd ACMA ruling. Still don’t get why various News programs are such a mess. Surely most of the script could be ingested from the autocue. Admittedly some things like “live” reports have to be captioned ‘live’. The Latest report from Newcastle (?) last night was a mess both for the captioning and the reporter.

    1. with my aging eyes i find them easier to read from a distance than usual plain text subtitles that so many shows use nowadays. I also find the old school SBS subtitles (yellow text with black outline) easier to read.

  13. Very disappointed to see more channels are closing on Foxtel. Not 6 months ago (I believe) did Foxtel Movies Kids close and now Foxtel Movies Thriller is also closing this month. In addition Sci Fi is closing this month, which will be the first time since 2006 when the now defunct Sci Fi channel (TV1 GEP era) launched that we will be without a dedicated sci-fi channel. Granted the current incarnation is a shadow of its predecessor with no first-run content and constant repeats but regardless the loss of content is disappointing for paying subscribers.

  14. Any news on whether anywhere in Australia will be showing this years Brit awards? I’ve looked everywhere but can’t find any mention of it. With Kylie getting the Global Icon award it would be great to watch.

  15. I realise this is a TV site, however with Tay Tay’s mammoth concerts taking the nation and world by storm tonight at the MCG, I was just thinking here, she goes back some 15+ years as a mainstream top charting singer, with “Love Story” in late 2008 her first hit… Wonder what TVT was reporting that day/week/month, what shows we were watching, etc! 😀

    1. Sept 15 2008: Blair McDonough is strongly tipped to join Channel 9’s Sea Patrol; Idol says it has revamped its Monday night Verdict show; Five regional newsrooms are to lose a journalist and cameraman under cuts by WIN TV; Gordon Ramsay is to film a one off version of Cookalong Live for the Nine Network; shows: The Hack Half Hour, Whatever Happened to That Guy, etc.

  16. I was eager to watch The New Look, the new series that debuted on AppleTV+ yesterday with Ben Mendelsohn. One and done for me, and I usually give a show a few episodes at least. What a disappointment. It’s a mess. John Malkovich’s accent was so hammy I was waiting for Johnny English to appear, he played Pascal Sauvage in that film from 20 years ago and I’m not joking, he sounds exactly as he did in that film. And that was a slapstick comedy!
The whole thing was boring, meandering and a strange take on WWII. Even Mendelsohn seemed uncomfortable. Avoid.

  17. I have been critical of some of the manufactured dross on Netflix but I have loved One Day …. The two leads are outstanding, the show at 14 episodes is a perfect length …. Highly recommended

  18. ‘Scorpion’ started up on 9 last week at midday after being a standard on 10 for many years-was rated PG on 10 as an early evening product but now all the eps appear to be M rated.
