The Ricky Gervais Show, featuring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington returns to SBS next month.
The animated podcast previously aired on SBS in 2010.
If you’re a fan of An Idiot Abroad you’ll enjoy hearing more inane banter from Pilkington.
The series picks up from Episode 5.
From the creators of The Office and Extras comes the comedy series, The Ricky Gervais Show. An animated version of their record-breaking audio podcasts, the series is voiced by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington. Pilkington is a work colleague and friend, whose offbeat musings inspire many of the storylines.
Some of the topics covered include: the merits of 20th century inventions; Karl’s suggestion for population control; how philosophy has evolved through the ages; Karl’s round head; and his thoughts on charity.
Regular features include ‘Monkey News’ and readings from Karl’s journal.
Gervais and Merchant first worked with Pilkington when he was the producer of their Saturday show on the London radio station Xfm. By 2005, Gervais and Merchant decided to turn their radio show into a podcast, and brought Pilkington along.
The podcasts began to focus particularly on the eccentric mind of the stoic Pilkington, who served as the perfect comic foil to the frenetic Gervais and droll Merchant. The podcasts became wildly popular, scoring a Guinness World Record in 2007 for being the most downloaded podcast on the Internet.

Firstly SBS showed this program, they then dropped it, they brought it back on last year before dropping it again. Now they are bringing it back for the 3rd time !
About bloody time!, but Monday, seriously? Are all the network programmers having a competition to see how much awesomeness they can stuff into Monday evenings? Well, except Ten, of course.
i will try and watch this if i can, looks good.
SBS advises an error in Airdate that was sent. Starts on Monday.
Animation is gorgeous but I grew to despise the mean-spirited Gervais while watching this show.
