Nine yanks Survivor: One World

Due to premiere on Tuesday, but Survivor: One World gets the big bang from Nine.

It was all set to premiere on Tuesday night.

Nine had even sent out preview disks for review.

But Nine has now pulled Survivor: One World from the schedule next week, replaced with replays of, yep, The Big Bang Theory. That seems to be an apt phrase for shows that have been zapped by Nine.

Nine was already long overdue with launching the series -the eleventh episode has already aired in the US, making Spoilers a real headache.

At the start of this year Nine’s Michael Healy told TV Tonight, “I’m a big fan of Survivor, it’s been no secret. Last year it’s overnight numbers weren’t bad but it does extremely well in catch-up. Almost 70% of its audience in catch-up. We certainly hope to have it on air very soon, but I can’t confirm if it’s a Nine or a GO! proposition at this stage. But we’d like to get it to air as soon as possible.”

There is some speculation the show may be moving to GO! but Nine has not responded to enquiries about a new start date for Survivor.

  1. Attention network programmers!

Why not make 1 of your digital channels a fast track channel? If a show airs in the US Monday morning our time. Air it Monday night in Australia. If they show a repeat in the US. Show the same repeat here. The viewers want immediacy. They want to engage the rest of the world online with reality shows.

It’s pathetic that not even Foxtel/Austar channels can manage to fast track new content.

    1. Nice idea but not sure that idea works as a business model. Foxtel and FTA do fast-track some shows: off the top of my head American Idol, Glee, Amazing Race, Game of Thrones, ET, late night chat shows, etc. but there’s actually a lot more.

  2. Good news – I just called Ch.9’s programming to make a complaint (following the lead of others on here) and they assured me that it hasn’t been pulled altogether and that it will “definitely” screen some time in May. They just couldn’t say when. It’s a glimmer of hope I guess.

  3. I don’t watch survivor but it dose have a very loyal fans who have been let down again by this pathetic excuse for a tv station not only are the pissing off viewers of survivor

but they are also killing the big bang theory by over playing it it is one of their rare successes

haven’t you learnt anything from top gear kitchen nightmares and two and a half men nine when you over play a show you kill it

  4. Thought I would just check the EPG guide for the next week and was astounded to find that there are 16 episodes of Big Bang Theory on over two channels And they are all repeats!! It might be a popular show but surely this is excessive and they could have found a space for Survivor instead of a couple of these episodes. I have just sent an email to Channel 9 programming to this effect, probably won’t do much good but at least I feel better by complaining to them!

  5. This is what I was asking the other day, thought something was fishy! It’s a bit of a joke, just chuck it on GO! instead of all the movies. Air it a couple times a week and we will catch up a bit.

  6. i watch via ‘other means’. can’t b assed waiting for 9 2 do the right thing. TPTB at 9 really have no clue how to run a network. 3 channels and 1 hour a week can’t b found to show survivor-fail!

  7. I don’t watch survivor however I feel for the fans waiting for Nine!! What’s the hold up?
I also understand Nine not airing it on the main channel but they have both GO and GEM which are screaming for fresh content yet they just sit there airing TBBT that gravy train will come crashing down one day same as Ramsey, Same as Men, same as Top Gear.

  8. More evidence that Nine programming have no idea what they are doing. Still dont know why they would put their 3 big reality shows on at once when they still have a post Olympics schedule to fill… And where’s Tricky Business?? My prediction it will launch after Olympics… Oh well back to your reruns Nine/Go/Gem! Wish there was a clause where CBS could take back Survivor and give it to Foxtel where shows like American Idol are given respect.

  9. For gods sake Nine. Still can’t trust you. You still yanking shows despite having The Voice. I give up. You’re a pathetic network who has 3 channels and can’t find space on any of them for Survivor. You’re a joke.

  10. And in 5 years time when no one watches live TV anymore Ch9 will still be playing Big Bang and scratching thier heads. All new TV’s have PVR playback and are network connected to PC’s! Clocks ticking…

  11. Virtually every quote from a TV exec lowers their credibility. We are really cursed with the most useless group of individuals running FTA comm chs in this country.

I can almost imagine their chats with a careers adviser at school, ”well you a bit of a tosser mate, crap at most things, intellectually challenged…..mmm try a career in the TV industry, you should fit in quite well”

  12. Unbelievable! Perhaps if it was on Go! they’d show it at a reasonable time and I would have to record it.
Perhaps Nine should stop all programming except TBBT?

  13. I have got just one word for Channel 9 “pathetic”. They could easily have Fast tracked Survivor to Go instead of putting on so many repeats of other shows, how many times do we have to see repeats, it’s about time they got their heads out of the sand and brought some variation to their programming. I am now strongly considering other ways to watch my favourite shows and giving all free to air television a miss!

  14. I am sure 10.30 on a Tuesday night was such an important time for Nine ratings wise and would have been make or break for them.

What a joke!!! BBT even more of a joke.

Can we please stop watching this inane show on Nine or Go so that they don;t fill every possible hole with it. Survivor on Go at a reasonable hour anywhere Sunday to Thursday will only fail because of Nine’s already huge reality ratings with their shows

  15. Nice picture lol

I don’t watch but feel for the fans, yes another reason they go elsewhere to get their Survivor fix!

So I wonder how many (older) fans will read their printed guides tune in only to find 4 nerds on their TV?

  16. My guess is they didn’t want another reality series in the schedule. If it’s going to air on GO! then they should show double eps on Sundays from 7.30pm-9.30pm. It’s all too late though because I’m sure I’m not the only one who has seen all 11 episodes of this season so far.
