Kids’ channel Boomerang will launch a brand new look on December 1st.
Aimed at kids aged 5-12, the channel’s new mission is “to be a dynamic and quirky place where young girls and boys can be inspired, laugh and play with the whole family; a place with the best slap-stick comedy and fantasy cartoons that are parent approved.”
A new graphics package will feature “a beautiful, energetic place inhabited by a collection of colourful creatures that live in five separate but interconnected environments – space, sky, land, sea and underground.”
Programming will remain a mix of international comedy and fantasy, including the third season of The Garfield Show plus The Looney Tunes Show, Tom and Jerry Tales, My Little Pony, Care Bears, Baby Looney Tunes and The Adventures of Chuck and Friends.
Robi Stanton, Vice President and General Manager, Australia and New Zealand, Turner International says: “We are delighted with Boomerang’s new look and feel. The channel has been going from strength to strength and with new programming and a complementary website we have high hopes for the channel going into 2013.”

Boo! I like watching the classics like Popeye and Josie & The Pussycats, but none of the cartoon channels seem to have a place for those shows anymore.
Will it continue to be a haven for old cartoons like Wacky Races, Captain Planet etc or are they narrowing their content focus?
“I climbed on the back of a giant albatross which flew through a crack in the clouds to a place where happiness reined all year ’round and music played ever so loudly…”
Will be interesting to see if they convert to 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio at the same time.
