French back Fallout drama

French distributor and production company makes its first investment in an Australian series.

French distributor and production company APC Studios has helped fund and picked up worldwide rights to ABC’s six part drama Fallout.

As first revealed by TV Tonight, the six-part drama from Porchlight Films centres around atomic bomb tests in the 1950s features Ewen Leslie, Jessica de Gouw, James Cromwell.

Fallout is APC Studios’ first investment in an Australian series.

Fallout is a perfect example of the kind of drama we are committed to supporting – a locally grounded story which tackles universal themes and complex characters we know will resonate globally,” said Emmanuelle Guilbart and Laurent Boissel, joint-CEOs and co-founders of APC Studios.

The series is set to air on ABC in 2020.

  1. British scientists were testing various nuclear trigger devices over a period of years, the lack of accountability for long term health and safety (including some deaths) by both the British and Australian governments at the time will make interesting drama for this show. Robert Menzies relationship with Churchill will be worth examining as well if ‘Fallout’ is to have any credibility, so I would imagine the conservatives will be interested in how Menzies will be portrayed especially Mr.Howard.
