Nine declines to comment as headlines surround former news boss

"We do not discuss our processes on any instances of this kind publicly about anyone," says Nine.

Nine has declined to comment on gathering headlines this week surrounding the departure of Nine News boss Darren Wick in March.

The Australian, Daily Telegraph and SKY News this week reported the news boss had been the subject of a recent complaint from a female staff member, related to an incident which allegedly occurred some years ago.

The reports suggest the matter was discussed at Board level.

An external legal firm was brought in to investigate while Wick remained on leave, but was unable to substantiate the complaint.

The Daily Telegraph also claims to have spoken to a number of current and former employees in a story which claims Nine staff are said to be ‘rattled and disappointed’ over the handling of his departure.

TV Tonight is not suggesting the allegations were substantiated, only that they are the subject of press articles this week.

A Nine spokesperson said, “We do not discuss our processes on any instances of this kind publicly about anyone. These processes are always confidential and it is important for all parties that they remain so.”

‘Wickie’ departed in March after 13 years as Director of News and Current Affairs and nearly 30 years at the network.

Nine is yet to announce his successor with state news directors currently all reporting to Director of Television, Michael Healy.
