UK broadcaster undecided over unaired Mosley series

One new series is completed and TV doctor was working on the next project.

British broadcaster Channel 5 is yet to make a decision on whether it will screen an unaired new series by the late Dr. Michael Mosley.

Wonders of the Human Body is an exploration of how our bodies work.

The series sees Mosley put his own body to the test to track incredible medical breakthroughs, from a new scan that promises to predict a heart attack years in advance to undergoing hypnosis and following pioneering brain surgery to cure tremors.

Parent company Paramount said it was too early to say whether the series will broadcast.

The founder of the show’s production company Storyboard, Natalie Humphreys, wrote on LinkedIn: “Many of us had the joyful experience of working with Michael regularly over the years and we recently finished collaborating on a new series together. The whole team is heartbroken.”

Mosley had also been working on a new series based on his podcast Just One Thing for BBC. Each episode explores a single action a person can take to improve their health, from a hot bath in the evening to Nordic walking.

In April, Mosley wrote on social media: “I’ve just begun filming a new series for BBC Two based on my popular podcast series Just One Thing. It is surprisingly challenging going from a radio format into a TV one, but so far it’s looking good…”

Mosley’s last aired series was Australia’s Sleep Revolution by Artemis Media for SBS.

Celia Tait CEO of Artemis Media said, “We are so shocked and sad at the tragic news of Michael Mosely.

”Michael was one of the few people in the TV world who had an energy, spirit and intelligence that reached millions of people around the globe, affecting real change in their lives. We feel privileged to have worked with him over many years. The TV series we made together helped to amplify the health messages he was so excited to share – and to effect changes in Australia. Collaborating with top scientists,  he shared cutting edge health advice, and through his own demonstrations, he encouraged all of to change our views and habits, and take more control of our own health.

“We will miss his wit, wonderful laugh, energy and ideas.

”His legacy will live on – and on.

“Our thoughts are with Clare and the Mosely young. We hope they can take some comfort in knowing just how much Michael inspired people around the globe .”

SBS said in a statement, “SBS is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Dr Michael Mosley’s passing.

“His work with SBS was not only ground-breaking but also a true reflection of his dedication and passion to health and science and commitment to affecting real change that improves the health of many Australians.

“His contributions to his field and his remarkable work with SBS and many others in the industry, touched countless lives and brought vital health information to the forefront.

“Collaborating with Dr. Mosley on Australia’s Health Revolution and Australia’s  Sleep Revolution was an extraordinary privilege; his generosity, warmth, and willingness to share his knowledge has made a lasting impact on all of us.

“SBS passes on its deepest sympathies to his family, friends and all who loved him.”

  1. I really hope they show this programme as it was completed and shows how he used to put him self of a patient by undergoing different procedures. He will be missed for his programmes like this.

  2. In unfortunate synchronicity, the SBS audience feedback (“The Exchange”) questionairre sent out early last week, just days before his dissapearance, was entriely about Dr Mosely and his recent programmes.
