New Who in June

June is shaping up as the month of Doctor Who.

The ABC is to air the 2006 Xmas Special on Thursday June 28 featuring David Tennant and guest Catherine Tate in “The Runaway Bride.”

Then from Saturday June 30 we will see the third instalment of the revived sci-fi series.

Replacing Billie Piper as the Doctor’s sidekick is Freema Agyeman as ‘Martha Jones.’ John Barrowman also makes select appearances as Captain Jack Harkness later in the season.

Barrowman’s spin-off series Torchwood is due soon on Network TEN, with a possible premiere in June too.

And if that isn’t enough, UKTV has a Who marathon with all of series one and two of the Russell T. Davies era on June 9 / 10.

Enough to send a fan spinning into a time tunnel….

  1. I agree with you, David, and try to never mention anything that is not already all over the press, Dr Who Magazine etc. etc.
One of the joys of watching this season is that only the basic details are released before the episode airs so I enjoy the surprise each week and I want everyone else to as well.
Another Dr Who spin off pilot “The Sarah Jane Adventures” was screened at Christmas, it is a children’s show (Dr Who is a “family” show) but it was excellent and great fun to watch … doubt that we will get to see this series here though.
    Jack!

  2. This is a great season so far … new companion Martha is brilliant, I like her more than Rose, in fact it only took a few minutes into the first episode “Smith And Jones” to forget Rose. Rose’s “relationship” with the Doctor was becoming annoying.

So many excellent episodes this season … only low point so far was the second Dalek episode “Evolution Of The Daleks” which looked fantastic but the script was all wrong and it was a waste of a great opportunity (Ep 5). David Tennant has been SOOOO sexy this season!

Also wonderful that we will have Captain Jack back for the final three episodes of this season … what an excellent and unique character.

Screening “The Runaway Bride” on a Thursday is just stuipdity … put it on a Saturday … it is a very good episode too.
Jack! (A poor imitation of the real thing!)
