Big Shots off target

American dramedy Big Shots has misfired with audiences and is being pulled from ABC’s schedule – and that spells trouble for Channel Nine.

Starring Michael Vartan and Dylan McDermott, it follows four friends as dysfunctional CEOs who “take refuge in their friendship, discussing business, confiding secrets, seeking advice and supporting each other.” Yep, it’s secret men’s business. But ABC has pulled the show after 8 eps.

Reviews for the show were mostly unexcited. People magazine called it one of “several Sex and the City clones” and the characters “Entourage-wannabes.”

Big Shots was one of Nine’s new dramas for 2008 and included in its programme launch two weeks ago.

Another ABC drama, Women’s Murder Club is also yet to be ordered for a full series.

  1. Hiya ~

Since we are Alias fans, we tried to watch Big Shots in support of Michael Vartan. Emphasis on tried! I think we lasted for 10 or 15 mins before changing the channel. 🙁 My feeling is you can’t judge a show by its very first episode. The actors just met each other and their characters. So, we checked in on Big Shots again. Still couldn’t watch the whole show. Bye bye!

  2. Its happening to ch9 – it wouldn’t surprise me that ch7 will win the 2008 ratings – they know how to pick ‘winning’ programs.
ch9 on the other hand is going from bad to worse!
I hope they don’t spend the whole year with re-runs of the CSI franchise – i like the show but how many times can you keep watching the same episodes???

I will most likely be viewing ch7 in 2008.
