Chaser boys to Rage in New Year

ABC darlings The Chaser team have been handed the plum job of programming Rage for New Year’s Eve.

Andrew Hansen, Chas Licciardello, Julian Morrow, Craig Reucassel and Chris Taylor promise an eclectic playlist of tracks by The Beatles, The Prodigy, The Violent Femmes, Sonic Youth, Hilltop Hoods and Cold Chisel.

“We’re hoping to bring the same calibre of coverage to ABC TV as Matthew Newton did last year on Channel Ten’s New Year’s Eve special,” the team said.

“Nobody invited us to any parties, so we’re doing this instead.”

They will include selected musical numbers from the Chaser’s War on Everything series.

  1. I disagree, I do like that Simpsonized picture. How do I get one of me?

    Meanwhile, I hope The Chasers remember how late at night their air time will be and how wasted most of us will be and thereby get on many viewers’ level by behaving equally badly (Newters on 10 last year was a wonderfully shonky highlight), whilst playing all the most crazy (crazy bargains!) stuff they can find… not just the same old slightly edgy music clips as seen on ‘rage’. I hope they prioritize humour and rarity in the playlist… damn, the mind boggles, I wish I was the music programmer!

  2. I wish Rage would bring back the Top 50 on Saturday mornings!! They’ve received so many complaints about it, but all they say is that it was an ABCTV Management decision and that it’s not coming back. I used to watch it religiously every Saturday morning…I haven’t watched Rage since it disappeared. The videos they usually show late at night tend to be quite obscure….I miss my fix of the Top 50 best selling singles each week!

    And I absolutely loathe that Simpsonized picture of the Chaser. It’s absolutely hideous. 😐
