Karl: Shift Today to Melbourne.

Today show host Karl Stefanovic would happily relocate his family to Melbourne if Nine wanted to make a new base for the show in 2008, he said.
“It would be a good point of difference from Sunrise,” he told the Herald-Sun.
“I think it would be a great idea to move down here and shoot at Fed Square. There’s always a great atmosphere there; it’s a great vibe for TV. If we win Melbourne, we could build from there.”
Certainly the market for Today is stronger in Melbourne than anywhere else. It almost beat Sunrise this year. But Stefanovic’s comments are unlikely to find favour with the rest of the Today cast and crew. Wilkinson’s family have already had to make compromises for her to take the early morning rises.
Only weatherman Steve Jacobs is based in the southern city.
“It’s the way Sunrise did it (won the ratings) -one city at a time.”

David – it’s not a comment on the item on the Today Show, but a little pedantic point about your continued insistence on still putting a hyphen in Herald Sun. The hyphen was dropped years ago. Love the blog though mate! Keep up the great work.
id consider watching it if they moved it to Melbourne but they left Lisa Wilkinson and her plastered on smile behind, why they didnt elevate Sharyn Ghidella to the hosting role when they had the chance is beyond me..even now George Gardner is a much better presenter than Lisa

David, I honestly think that any move by Nine to shift Today out of Sydney will gain traction after the sale of TCN’s & GTV’s land (and purchase of new studio facilities) is settled.
TODAY is great to watch…. the show has improved so much since last summer/year….. the team really gells and obviously have a great natural rapport….
the set does need a MAJOR revamp, and needs a bit of life injected to it…
Having said that….. there are days however when watching paint dry, while shoving bamboo stalks into my nails would be better that watching KOCHI on SUNRISE….
