Westacott to fight sexism claims

Channel Nine News boss will fight accusations of sexism being leveled by former reporter Christine Spiteri with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.

The hearing due this week is expected to hear claims Westacott said female staff would only succeed if they had “F***ability.”

Another female reporter told the Daily Telegraph Westacott said, “I wanted to work on 60 Minutes I needed bigger t . .s.”

They follow statements Spiteri should try employment at SBS.

Westacott, supported by David Gyngell, denies the claims. Tara Brown, a reporter for 60 Minutes agreed that, “I’ve worked with John Westacott for 15 years. He might be many things but I’ve never found him to be sexist.”

  1. I wouldn’t be surprised if the claims were true.
Even though I think Channel Seven is a little more sensationalist and its integrity for honest broadcasting is about as low as you can get its appeal is greater than Nines. Switching to C9 is like take a step back in time.
The male presenters on Channel Nine shows are all the same, there wooden, boring and you can tell who ever is hiring these people has his morals set firmly in 1972. IMO thats the reason there getting there arses kicked by Channel Seven, C7 employ a lot more women and even though the women are more eye candy than anything else. Its a better looking channel and seems more fresher.
Channel Nine seems to be looking for the next Eddie MacGuire. The old stereotype of beer drinking “G’day Mate” sports and t**s mentality is a turn off even to the most metrosexual of guys.
Of course comments like the one Spiteri is claiming are spouted off in the halls of C9, and its about time they get a big boot in the arse to send them in to the 21st century.
Oh, and getting rid of that smirking newsreader (who smirks through murder reports) and that soooo dull Stefanovich would be a good start. Then again Lavidia Nixon is annoying as hell, it makes you wonder about how they get there jobs.
Even Kerry would have said lets move this channel into the new century.
This is a lesson Channel Nine needs to learn.
