Clips of the American Kath & Kim have begun hitting websites, accompanied by music from the Scissor Sisters.

Kath & Kim is about to be released online in the next 24 hours to Americans via iTunes. It’s one of a number of shows NBC is pre-releasing as a way of generating buzz, before it’s television premiere next week.

A number of clips have already begun hitting US websites which show a lot more of the show’s adaptation.

Scissor Sisters’ song “Filthy, Gorgeous” accompanies two clips as the Americanised foxy ladies get about.

Of the 8 clips at IESB, one montage of the ladies shopping, and the “wine time” clip are probably the strongest. Molly Shannon still looks a better fit than Selma Blair, who in these clips looks like a spoiled brat.

  1. Why does it feel like everyone WANTS this to flop. If this goes wrong it will go terribly wrong and Australian’s will look like idiots.

    I think they have done the best they could with the American accent and american comedy, we all knew that it had to be very different from the australian version. I still think that the Australian version looks better and always will but the americans don’t have that benchmark already set.

    This is a world where one of the highest rating shows is 2.5 men. I think it will do ok.

    the show looks fantastic. so funny in one of the clips when kim meets phil for the first time and phil leans in to kiss kim on the cheek and she doesn’t move at all so phil pulls back. it’s an weird moment and i think that was so funny!!

    loved it from start to finish.

    the show will do 100% brilliantly.

    and besides u need to see the entire show from start to finish. not just 8 small clips.

    once you watch the show in full then make a decision

  3. okay i know that no-one is going to agree with me.. in australia or the US probably but i htink the show looks really good.. very excited that seven are fast tracking it 🙂

  5. The humour feels very American, but I certainly wouldn’t call it awful. It’s certainly looks more interesting than 2 and a half men which rates it’s pants off! But I’m missing the outrageous clothes, Kath perm and the Kim/Sharon dynamic.

    I don’t quite understand the hatred which started long before going into production. It seems many people are precious about their shows being remade. I for one hope this does well, but on reputation alone it’s not looking good.

  7. I had read that they were re-shooting the pilot – but I didn’t think it would be so extreme! The versions above are incredibly different to the ones all over YouTube. I’m worried by tweaking the show too much – they’ve ruined it! I didn’t laugh once at the new clips. It’s made me very worried in the lead up to the premiere.
