Gone: Hole in the Wall, Wipeout, Motorway Patrol.

Nine has pushed some of its Friday shows into the water to make way for Harry Potter.

Fringe disappearing from Nine’s schedule wasn’t the only change within the programming department today.

It made switches to its Friday line-up from next week too.

Instead it’s bringing movies back to Friday nights, specifically, the Harry Potter series.

Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone will air next Friday Oct 24 at 7:30pm. Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets airs a week later, Friday October 31st.

As a result a Friday edition of Wipeout and Hole in the Wall are out of schedule and plans to return Motorway Patrol are gone -thank goodness.

  1. hahaha true JM. Don’t forget About A Boy, thats one that has really been overkilled past its expiration date. Nine are a bit better though when it comes to showing movies, they usually try and keep it fresh, pity the same can’t be said about their TV shows (2.5 men, Ramsay, Attenborough, CSI…)

  2. Can I say yay? I’ll never shed a tear over garbage shows like that but 9 are really starting to get out of hand pulling shows off every which way. And if you’re going to take something off then at least replace it with something worthwhile! I love the HP movies but they weren’t on very long ago. There are stacks and stacks are movies that have never been shown on TV. They don’t even have to be recent ones. Just show something that hasn’t been on a million times before would suffice!

If 9 continue on like this, they’ll have nothing to show.

  3. Finally. HITW and WO are utter tripe. Channel Nine has gotten what it deserves for those two. I am so glad that Nine is dying. What’s great is they’ve already commissioned an Australian Wipeout, which surely will flop like the US version.

And as people above have mentioned, all Nine has left is 2.5 Men (which hopefully will die too) and CSI (see 2.5 Men). Goodbye Nine.

As for the HP movies, I would have thought that would make more sense as a build up to the release of the sixth movie, but that doesn’t come out until July 2009.

  4. Just another bit on Mark’s comment:

If the current NINE owners can’t manage to get enough cash together for the next interest payment – I can guarantee you NINE will be airing the test pattern.

    Watch that space.

  5. Travis – Battlefronts on Friday night makes sense to me too.

If NINE put it there … it may steal away a few Better Homes viewers – and due to the “game” part of the format – might also entice a few viewers away from TEN who are missing their fix of Friday Night Games.

But then again – I’m no programmer.

  6. what bro ? no Motorway patrol ? how else am i gonna see my cuz on tv ?

there’s multple quality movie series 9 could start putting on which would fit their current lineup , the die hard trilogy , rush hour trilogy, police academy series, american pie series, hell even national lampoons ! (back to the good old days) or the nightmare on elm street series !

  7. Motorway patrol like most Kiwi (follow the officers around) shows was always good for a laugh and certainly broke up that dead boring 7-30 pm Friday night slot.

Can we rake bets now that in 3-4 weeks, after Potter movies, they will try something else, then dump that after 3 weeks, then……on it goes…

  8. God channel 9 are arseholes!

They only have 1episode left of Hole In The Wall to show and they take it off.. So when will we see this unaired episode? Or will we never see it?

It’s already up on youtube as episode 4 or something but they skipped it because it didn’t have big enough stars? Blondes VS Brunettes.

screw channel 9! they better play it or I’m complaining!

  9. No surprise considering these shows did poorly last week and probably do no better tonight or at least no higher than 850,000.

Harry Potter is a good choice though and gives the kids something to watch considering Seven do not have anything on for them very often and Ten is the alternative with Download and hopefully family movies.

Nine could have bumped Fringe to Fridays or put on McLeod’s Daughters instead.

  10. werent the first 4 films on in consecutive weeks like a month ago?

    feels that way

does this mean they have rights to #5 now, if they do can’t they just skip to that, surely anyone that is interested would have seen it the first 4movies the first 4 times around, especially the philosophers stone

as for HITW, WO, MP: meh, not surprised but that makes two overhyped shows axed in a day (HITW) i sense redder faces at nine

  11. I thought Wipeout and Hole in the Wall were two of ch9s big hopes, then again Fringe was being promoted as the next big thing, so was Canal Road, which I still have a copy of the promos.

So what does this leave ch9 with 2.5 Men and a bunch of CSIs? Well we have Cricket to get us through the summer.
