TV Tonight is pleased to bring you a moment in Australian television history.
Ian Smith’s last “clapper board” following his final scene on Neighbours.
And this time it’s for good.
Filmed last October, the scene will go to air in Australia this month.
The much-loved actor, who joined the soap in 1987, already retired from the show but agreed to some part-time appearances.
Now Smith hopes to spend more time travelling and spending time with his family.
Episode 5635, Sc 17, Take “1” (what a pro) airs on February 27th on TEN.

To me, Ian Smith will always be the evil Mr. Douglas from “the department” on Prisoner. His work on that show, both on screen and behind the scenes, is far more deserving of recognition than his portrayal of the bumbling Harold Bishop.
nah, just a hunch…
lets just say dave, i have a source
lou and harold for their own “odd couple” show I reckon!
He is the John Farnham of the soapie world…
i give it a month
i love harold bishop, will be a sad day when he dies, give him a logie though..
Who says he dies?
How many of these “last show” clappers does he have – and how many more will he get?
From all of the promos from last year, I though he was going mid way through last year! They know how to drag it on.
Ian deserves a logie for his contribution to television.
Ian Smith for a logie!
Thanks for this! The man is a legend. 🙂
harold is such a legend.
he definantly deserves the retirement thou.
