INXS: ‘We didn’t sack Fortune.’

Is it a case of Listen Like Thieves? INXS' manager says the band still had hopes to use Fortune in future projects.

inxs1INXS band manager has denied claims J.D. Fortune was sacked from the band.

Chris Murphy, said yesterday that the band was horrified by comments made by Fortune that he was dropped by the band at Hong Kong airport.

“Not only are we shocked by the claims, even the place the supposed incident was to have taken place is a mystery to the band,” Murphy told news.com.au.

The singer who won Rock Star told Canada’s Entertainment Tonight last week that he was now broke and living in a car after losing his job with the band he had travelled for 23 months.

“What annoys me the most after viewing Fortune’s interview is the bloody slant he makes toward the founding band members,” Murphy added.

“The band have always stated to me that Fortune’s services could potentially be contracted again when INXS next tour.

“In fact he was next on my list to call regarding a very big recording project I am putting together for INXS at present.

“I guess I have no reason to call him now.”

  1. i want to remember the band for those albums in late 70’s n early 80’s. like most bands they lost the plot after third or fourth album, started to go down hill by listen like thieves. bring back terence trent darby! lol

  2. Whatever. They should have called it a day when Hutchence died. Instead they’ve flushed any remaining credibility and relevance down the toilet. They embarrassed their fans by doing the whole reality show thing, and the resulting album stank. It’s time to move on to other things and stop trying to recapture old glories.

Bwahahaha. Yeah, right. What wonderful timing…

  4. Sounds like the manager is talking crap and going for a heavy spin here.

He says J.D. was next on his list to call ….. why wasn’t he the first on his list to be called.

If I was putting together a big INXS recording project (whether it be an INXS studio album or a tribute album), I would certainly be calling the reigning lead singer of INXS first, especially as in the publics eye and fans eyes, he still was the official lead singer until last week.

  5. Oh for hell’s sake, INXS. Stop it. Your band died with Michael Hutchence. Deal. Please. Move on. You’ve spent the last few years embarrassing the hell out of what used to be really, really good memories of a band I thought was the best in the world.

  6. “he was now broke and living in a car after losing his job with the band ”

If he hasn’t saved a cent in almost 2 years in what I assume would be a fairly well-paid job, how is that the band’s fault?
