footyclass09Nine’s outspoken AFL panel show Footy Classified returns to air 10:40pm Monday March 23rd.

This means the show is back to Monday nights despite a move last August from Mondays to Sundays. The show had been buffeted by other programming on Nine’s Mondays.

This year former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas joins Garry Lyon, Craig Hutchison and Caroline Wilson.

Compared to The Footy Show, Footy Classified is very much a news-driven sports forum with debate and opinion on AFL, with strong word of mouth.

The Sunday Footy Show (AFL) will return to Nine on Sunday March 29.

  1. Hutcy you got nothing get rid of him. Stop talking about Richmond they have always been a bunch of losers. Caro is good value but have to snigger how she bagged west coast and cousins way back and now benny the angel is at her club bit of karma ben.

  2. I think it is time that 9 review its contract with Mr Hutchinson. Is there any media person that goes off half cocked each week about something. I watched the show last night when Mr H. and Ms Wislon were in debate, absolutly discraceful media. Is it not possible for them to discuss certain aspects before a show goes to air?. Im not big on Ms. Wilson either but she was not allowed by Mr H. to give a right of reply without being interupted.
    Ch.9… have a real good look at whom you are paying (Mr.H). Having two reporters arguing each week will not gain ratings, it will lose viewers. I am gone until he is gone!. I have had a gutful of the fool.

  3. Watched the show the other night, – craig grow up!!!
    You carry on like a little school girl, trying to compete with caro. It doesn’t take a man to try and belittle someone at every given opportunity…
    Craig, you sound like a bitch! You look like a fool!!
    And you want to talk about hypercrits, you have recently been getting stuck into brendon favola and the carlton footy club, and also making ridiculous comments about the freo footy club and mark harvey going at the end of the year if his young boys dont perform. Thats just absured, he’s only just arrived…
    Silly comments like that, given the fact that in two weeks time
    (after round 9) calton will be sitting 3rd on the ladder and freo will be sitting 4th, behind two very good unbeaten sides.
    My advice to you is to take her (caro) with a pinch of salt, and lighten up a little, dont be so rude, and respect your elders!!!

    Can you take over as coach of the collingwood football club, I belive you are the man that will deliver a premiership and give our players the confidence to go all the way. Please come to Collingwood you are the right man for the job

  7. “Bitterness” will consume your soul. There’s only one thing worse than a sore loser Grant, and that’s a bitter sore loser. I can sense your bitterness and resentment, even after only reading your first paragraph. I don’t know if it’s sad, or pathetic. Why do you have to attack someone about their post-match comments? Why didn’t you criticize him on his match-ups, or his game plan tactics? – Oh that’s right, because you can’t coach, and he can! (not nice is it?) Ive been silly enough to stay up late to watch you on Footy Classified, only to find you out of your depth, and the two muppets in the middle, paying more attention to the female reporter than you. Probably because she makes far more sense of football, and has a far greater knowledge of the modern game. You certainly looked like a fly on the wall the other night when the great Kevin Sheedy graced the stage!!! If the success of STK is too much to bare Grant,remember- Let it go. No hard feelings,ya like to throw the 1st punch!

  8. Grant, when discussing Josh Fraser, you several times referred to him as laconic. Laconic means brief or terse in speach; using very few words to express what you mean. Did you mean he was lethargic (deficient in alertness or activity)?

  9. Craig Hutchison give it up. You are flogging a dead horse about the Richmond coaching job. We are all sick of hearing specualtipn about it. Thankfully Kevin Sheedy cut you short tonight and left you nowhere to go. I hope you see it as a sign that it is time to move on to a new topic.

    Go find another singular, easy to beat up topic and leave Richmond alone. As Kevin said, it is only rouind 4.

    Point to note – I am not a Richmond fan. Just sick of speculation and want to hear about real footy, not beat ups

  11. For God’s sake get rid of craig Hutchinson. He spoils the show. Who run’s the show anyway Gary Lyons or Hutchinson. From the way he carries on anyone would thnk it is the Craig Hutchinson Show. It is the same when he gets on the Footy Show. The guy is desperate to be noticed and he does not care how may noses he puts out of joint. Please get someone intellegent to relace him.

I love footy classified, it is a bit late, but it is a very informative show, there will always be peope who criticize but I think that all the panel do a really good job, and before you know it the hour has gone, Grant Thomas is good, he doesn’t waffle on like some, but gets to the point with intelligent comments on a lot of issues, Keep up the good work all of you, Keep it coming.

  13. What would Grant Thomas know about coaching?? He had the best opportunity to win a couple of flags with the list he had at St. Kilda. Now he is an expert on who can & can’t coach. Get real Grant. Shinboner supporter

Great show but needs to get rid of Gary “wannabeeddiemcguire” Lyon the only difference is Ed has a crack at new things where as Gary always positions himself where he will not risk things (including his comments). And always positions himself to the “left” in photos etc as Ed always was (on left) to show everyone “I’m in charge here”.

  16. why do these people not know that there is a team called the Brisbane Lions in the AFL. Not once did they get a mention, we do get this program in Brisbane so hopefully as the season progresses we may even get a mention!!!!! I must say that Grant Thomas is the most boring person on TV!!!

  18. Footy Classified is the best footy panel show on TV. Why can’t channel 9 put it on at a reasonable time or at least show it on HD at 8.30pm instead of 10.40pm ?

    Love the panel and especially Caro Wilson who really makes the show

  20. This is a great show. In the early days of the Footy Show it was always the first 15-20 mins you would not want to miss for the big stories Eddie was going to break. Now it is all about antics and Sam Newman’s latest shock horror entrance. The big stories are now covered best on Footy Classified. Although Archer was a nice person he was not hard hitting enough for the show. Will be interesting to see Thomas who is not afraid of stirring the pot

  21. Footy Classified is a fantastic show, and really lets the Footy Show go off and become the rampaging-series it’s turning into, leaving all the real news and hardline interviews for the FC team

    It’s only here that i can stand watching Lyon, his seriousness works quite well in this format (unlike the gumpy bum he is on thursday nights)

  22. Caroline Wilson has got to be one of the worst journalists going around. She has no substance to the articles shes produces for ‘The Age’ and simply hates Collingwood.

  23. Horrible waste of a tv show this is, just a whinge fest as Hutchy finds some new exclusive about another player’s personal life and talk about if for an hour.

  25. I really like Footy Classified. Caro’s a great journalist, and they always manage to talk about something interesting.

    Glad they got rid of Archer. He just wasn’t suited to it.
