  1. This will help new recruits have an insigth into various sessions of the course. I was wondering if anyone knows, what are the success rate of being employed as probatrional officer after session 2 of the course so that you can finish the remainder sessions 3,4 and 5?

  2. These are all interesting viewpoints. I suspect the series is only based on the trainees at Goulburn. Also NSW Police are already filmed for The Force, and the Dept is reportedly paid well. Since the success of Border Security many TV factuals now double as a PR exercises. Maybe members should be raising these issues with the union too?

  3. As a serving police officer in nsw I can not say that I agree with this program. The way I understand it is that the video crews follow them around throughout their probation period. As a training officer (FTO) at my station, if any of these guys are sent to my station to work with me, I will be telling them to find someone else to train them. I don’t want a camera crew following me around filming me and everything I do. If I wanted to be on TV i would have become an actor. Everyone I have spoken with at work has said the same thing. I think it will create added pressures on the pros because no one will want to go out on the truck with them and create added stress to an already stressful job for the cops forced to work with them.

  4. Well i carn’t my daughter is down in Goulburn and if she passes the physical on Thursday will graduate on May the 8th. Fingers crossed but i will watch the recruits so i know what she has been through its been tough

  5. hey guys this is Tula from the New series “The Recruits”. Just dropping you a line to let you know that the ten network had no hesitation in allocating the 8pm monday night time slot as the new series stands independantly with predicted ratings through the roof. 6. Heard some good and bad points.Worked along side police as a security officer and they do cop some crap.Im hoping to go in September it can either make me or break me.

  7. I am a serving Police Officer in NSW. I don’t think members public should be aware of how our Policing procedures, tactics and/or strategies work. For starters, it is strictly confidential and only for serving members of the NSW Police Force. Showing the training such as the defensive tactics at the Goulburn Police Academy?! Come on, we don’t want crooks to know the in’s and out’s of our defensive tactics?! It’s for Police Officers to know only.

Okay, people get an idea of how stressful and difficult the job can be for new Probationary Constables with their workload and what not. I just don’t think the NSW Police Force should be publicised the way it is going to be.

  8. yeah there will be quite a story to tell, i am in the academy in another state at the moment, it is a lot of work but will well be worth it at the end, you really do make friends for life in this job as our instructors say it’s the best job on earth!

  9. Wow! This definitely will be a good insight into the first week at the academy, I head out on the 10th of May. And there is absolutely no way I am going to falter in any way, it’s my lifes dream to do this. So excited!!!

  10. I’ll be heading down to do the course in 2 weeks… the may 10 session. Its guna be a hell of challenge, but one im up for. The show is guna give me a great the first episode will give me a good insight on what to expect.

  11. Ive seen the first episode of this being on the show myself and I’ts a great show. I would recommend it to everybody who has no idea about the things that we must go through during our transition from civilians to police officers. People think its a piece of cake and even out on the streets people still treat police officers like crap just for doing their job. Hopefully this show makes people realise what we must go through to get where we are and also to show people we are just humans like everybody else with families etc.
Hopefully it will change some people’s attitudes towards police.

  12. It’s not an easy course. I wonder if they will show how and why, 30% of the students drop out.

It would be interesting to see the politics between Charles Sturt University Staff, and the Police lecturers. Also, to see if they’ll show the hilarious comments made by lecturers. Some Police, due to their job tend to have dark sense of humors. These tended to have the lecture theaters in stitches at times.

How much coverage will the dreaded Student Support Unit, (aka the SS Unit) get after they intimidate, bully, and talked down to students. What happens to students that break protocol, such as not having their name badges the right way, students who come in after curfew, and not declare things medically.

I am sure they will show the pressures of studying at the college, come exam time, where there are 3 exams in one week, along with 3 assignments due.

It’s also quite hard to convey the loneliness, the isolation from home, as well as the heat and the cold in Goulburn. The drive back from parents, loved ones and friends from the weekend. Then the week full of long days. The students coping, and not coping with the pressures. The awful food at the canteen.

Then finally the drink and drill week at the end, and the graduation. The joy of several hundred men and women fulfilling their dreams. The disappointment of those that did not.

Goulburn Police College is like another world, and unless you go through it, it’s hard to understand it. Maybe this documentary will help.

  13. Its very big risk running it at 8pm, I have very close connections, and it cost them an absolute fortune to get the rights to film at the acedemy, they had to have a officer with them at all times

  14. Hmmm, I honestly thought this show would’ve been held for a leadin program to Rush as they’re both of a similar nature, 8pm Mondays isn’t a good slot for it. I wanted to watch, but that is not a good timeslot for me to catch it, I’m going to be picking Seven’s comedies over this.

  15. what, i think channel 10 should of put it on at another night, not up-against 7 & 9s lifestyle programs which it wont win.

um i have a feeling if channel 7 launches a lifestyle channel they dont be buying this for repeats.

  16. About bloody time I have been hanging out to see this series for ages I assume it will be following master chef Australia if master chef is still going then
