After a court orders the wind up of Banksia Productions, what now for Humphrey B. Bear?

hbbThe future of Humphrey B. Bear hangs in the balance after the Supreme Court ordered Banksia Productions, the company behind the iconic character be wound up.

Nine had taken Banksia to court over an alleged $50,102 debt for “rentals and goods and services.”

Banksia Productions, which owns the character’s licence, did not attend yesterday’s hearing before Judge Robert Lunn.

According to The Advertiser, neither Nine for Banksia returned phone calls yesterday.

Attempts to contact the Lamb Family, who sold Channel 9 Adelaide to Southern Cross Broadcasting for $98 million in 1998, were also unsuccessful.

Banksia did not attend court proceedings yesterday.

  2. Banksia owes the money to 9 Adelaide which is owned by WIN. Bermuda resident Bruce Gordon owns WIN. The dispute is nothing to do with Nine/PBL.

  3. I reckon if I had a spare $50K lying around I’d buy him… Surely he’s worth a few mill?

    Talk about turning your back on someone, even if he is just a bear…
