Lost in split finale

Seven will again split the season finale of Lost across two weeks, with Prison Break likely to follow.

lost-josh-holloway421Seven will split the finale of Lost across two weeks, May 27th and June 3rd.

In the US this will screen as a two hour season finale on May 13th.

But at its 11pm start time in Oz, Seven is opting for two eps across two weeks -a trick it’s done before even in an earlier timeslot.

Seven also has a Lost special this Sunday night at midnight and repeated 2pm Wednesday. A final season will follow in 2010.

Seven has previously indicated it will replace Lost with the final 6 episodes of Prison Break, expected to be confirmed for June 10th.

  1. i missed the 27th may episode, because its on so bloddy late. I follow lost reliously, so i tape it . My dopy husband decided to turn off the video not realising i was taping. if anyone has that episode could u please send it to me.

  2. 7 is the best out of the 3 commercial networks for keeping shows even if ratings are low.
I remember I got into Jericho a couple of years ago, then suddenly ten just dropped it with no warning.

@richoTB, can’t believe you’d say that, this season is the best by far! The whole time traveling thing is no different than the flash backs they’ve had in previous seasons, only this time the island actually flashes back.
I love the 70’s setting aswell. Also, so many answers to questions in season 1 that seemed to be long forgotten.

Season 4 wasn’t bad, but it doesn’t even compare to s5. Lets hope s6 surpasses this season.

  3. This whole comparison when nein is a red herring. Just because 7 treats their audience a bit better than nein does not mean they treat their audience well. Anything seems good in comparison to that network.

  4. They did the same thing with the Boston Legal finale. It aired as a special 2 hour finale episode in the US and Seven is airing it as 2 separate episodes here. At least they are airing it though!

  5. Lost is nowhere near as good as it was last season IMO…time travelling and the whole stupid 1970s dharma plot has caused a large chunk of viewers to zone out in the US as well. The last episode only caught 8 million viewers, a far cry from the 18 million glory days of its first season. Luckily there’s only a year of it left

  6. No 7 is nothing like 9. If Lost was on 9 it would have disappeared from air long ago never to be seen again. Same with Heroes, Prison Break, Eli Stone, etc. 7 give their shows a go and let them run their course. 10 seems to as well.

9 simply replaces original shows with repeats, 20-1’s, 2.5 Men’s, etc.

  7. First of all thanks to Madds for letting me know about this article.

As everyone here has already says the scheduling by 7 is not a surprise.

  8. Finally Prison Breaks returns. Can’t wait until the DVD comes out so I can watch the series in full without 6month gaps in between episodes!

  9. Kat says
    ‘I’m not surprised. It’s seven’
and I agree totally – I’m just wondering, can anybody pinpoint the exact moment that Seven transformed into Nein?

  10. I seem to remember there was a similar post last year. Then seven changed their minds and showed the finale an hour early as two hours. So it could happen again?

  11. It isn’t Seven’s fault if Lost now has limited popularity with most Aus viewers who’ve lost patience with it, but it isn’t like Seven are unaware Aus fans of the show aren’t downloading it, so they can’t win. If they showed the double episode in one hit, Aus viewers who don’t know how to download, would then winge about the late finishing time.

  12. Seven really never gave Lost a chance this year, I saw no promos and they kept bumping it back. They really seem to just be running out the clock with Lost and not giving it the air time it deserves :S But like you Marius, I’m not surprised. It’s seven :S

  13. Neon Kitten – I agree, but to their credit Seven have stuck pretty close to the US this year (although that may be because it’s had a straight run, so we’ve caught up when the US has had a week off)

  14. I really don’t need to point out that everyone who cares about Lost is seeing it weeks before Seven throws it away in a dead timeslot.

“Piracy” never felt so justifiable. You cannot be a fan of this show and see its episodes weeks after others overseas (and posting on internet forums) have.

    Epic fail, Seven.

  15. Usually I’m against splitting up the finales and premieres of episodes, but since Seven show this so absurdly late at night, it kind of makes sense. Oh well, only a few episodes left before I can safely go to Lost forums again.

  16. They haven’t done this since season one! Bastards! Even last year they had a 9.30 roll out for the finale, honestly it couldn’t rate much worse at 9.30 than My Name is Earl

  17. Why not bring it forward to 9:30-10:00 for the final, I’ll just watch it a week or so before 7 shows it anyway so I don’t really care!

BTW What is this Lost special Sunday night?

  18. Hey

If you have time you might want to ask Seven if they have the rights to the two bonus episodes of Prison Break. As announced previously, a two hour wrap movie set in the future was made and will air on the DVD. Fox in America can screen if they choose but at this point in time they are opting not to screen them. The 6 episodes apparently still wrap up the series though. Would be interesting to know if Seven has those two episodes.

  19. Well, that is kind of stupid, cant put it past Seven, sounds about right.
Looks like I will be downloading the 2hr double ep online then! The last ep (like so many other) ended so ubrubtly, another week to wait just seems stupid!
