Returning: The Farmer Wants a Wife

Nine returns its dating reality show to Monday nights, where it always rated best.

NATALIE G2And here’s why Nine was so quick to wrap up Sea Patrol.

The Farmer Want a Wife is returning to 8:30pm Mondays on Nine from August 3rd. This is the fourth series of the dating show, and returning to Mondays is the slot where the show rated best.

If Seven adds City Homicide to its Monday line-up, as many expect, it will be back to the future for both networks.

The farmers are back and looking for love. In the series return we meet the new farmers and their potential brides as they all get to know each other and start their journey to find ‘the one’. Join Natalie Gruzlewski for this heart-warming, feel-good adventure to see where fate will take them.

Oh and please don’t ask about auditions, the show is in the can. If and when a fifth series is announced, a separate audition story will be added.

  1. This should be interesting and will happily watch.

Only real competition they really have and this applies to both men and women is Ten’s Good News Week so should do really well considering Your Other Alternative is a Repeat of Southpark and Flight of the Concords over at SBS.

Who apart from women actually watches Desperate Housewives or Brothers and Sisters?

  2. Nine might not look so shabby with one of their highest-rating shows back. IIRC FWAW scored 1.7 mill for a finale when it was on Mondays. Also Big Bang is probably a more appropriate lead-in to this rather than to Sea Patrol.

  3. Echoes comments about Nine burning Sea patrol.
Although I dont watch SP it has mass appeal and people are actually watching it, so double eps are a waste.
Farmer is a winner with many demographics,as is Sea Patrol..
Spread them out and you can win.

  4. A good placement.I haven’t watched Channel Nine Mondays since the Millionaire/Sex and the City days but will give Farmer wants a wife a chance

  5. Amazingly, I managed to pick this. But I have the Qld perspective where it will air after DH an B&S. It is lighthearted romantic fluff that people like. If it clashes with Mel / Ade / Per, those states may get a repeat or an encore…

  6. @ jerome ..it’s really only two weeks of double eps and it helped Nine win last Monday and likely next Monday so it’s a smart move as SP is a decent rater. I’m just a little irked as I wanted it to last longer and have to wait ages for series 4 🙁

  7. Not a surprising placement for Farmer. Though the female skewed double could face a bit of trouble on their first outing, considering the Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters finale are on the same night in Mel / Ade / Per.

  8. Not a fan but it’s not a bad show as background tv and mildly entertaining. Still I’m a tad annoyed at Sea Patrol wrapping up so quickly as it’s over so soon with only 13 eps now it’s over even quicker. I really wish Nine would produce a full 26 ep season.
