hh1Hey Hey its Saturday is back on the air, or at least reunited, as Daryl Somers, John Blackman, Red Symons, Wilbur Wilde, Molly Meldrum, Livinia Nixon and Russell Gilbert walked back into Studio 9 to a standing ovation from its diehard fans.

After ten years off air the show  is back to remind its fans how it tickled their funny bone for 28 years.

  4. What happend to the repeat on Saturday night? we were so looking forward to it, as my husband was away and missed the show. Will you be showing it at a later day? hope you do, its was so great so have you all back .

  6. Daryl has plainly lost weight and looked pretty fit, unlike his chubby appearances on DWTS. Seems Hey Hey is good for him.

    On ACA when Tracy interviewed Daryl, his head only came up to her shoulder. Is Daryl really a dwarf or a Tracy a giant?

  7. Bring it back permnantly – I laughed my head off for the first time in the decade since it left the airwaves – what makes it so funny is that it’s Australia with no pretend acting.

  8. I loved it, and the fact it did not change its humour to be more 2000s-PC. Hey Hey is the only place on TV they could possibly still get away with making fun of audience members’ weight and appearance, and not have thousands of complaints, because that’s the way we remember and love it.

  9. I watched it and enjoyed it. Especially John Blackmans wit.
    Whether you like it or not, Its a good way to bring the family together which goes without saying. So hard to find family friendly viewing this day and age.
    The whole world could do with a good dose of Hey Hey! Well Done!

  11. I think that this show worked so well last night because it was outdated! It brought back the “good old days,” and it shows that even the simplest and quirkiest ideas work. Loved Dicki and Molly’s dog. Great TV and will definitely be watching it next week!

  12. As an original Hey Hey fanatic (it was the best medicine for a hangover every Saturday morning), I watched the reunion with a smile on my dial the entire show. It was great to see the old familiar faces, and to be reminded of all those wonderful and crazy segments that I’d forgotten. So, for those that complained the format hasn’t changed, you missed the point. It was supposed to be nostalgic, it was supposed to be a trip down memory lane, it was for the fans of the show that wanted it brought back in the first place.

    It’s great to hear about the first-time viewers that enjoyed it too, and of course its not everyone’s taste – no show is. You’ll either love it, or you’ll hate it. I for one loved it, I’ll be watching next week, and this is the first time I’ve watched Nine since Survivor Fan vs Favourites.

The Hey Hey crew did an awesome job last night. – Despite what some are saying in other comments (wonder if they actually watched it or have simply decided to bag it out for the sake of it) the show last night did not at all look dated! It was like they’d never been away! – We Need a show like this back on TV permanently to be able to have a laugh & be able to see great Aussie music talent on TV again. There’s definitely room for it with the amount of low rating US shows that have come & gone.

  14. Hey Hey is Saturday is back big time. What a great two hours of live television – well done to Daryl and his team – all the magic and fun was recaptured for a new generation. Nine should be celebrating – now Nine needs to consider whether Wednesday night ought be ‘home’ to Hey Hey – wonder what Seven is now thinking? A Nine resurgence?

  15. It was great.Good to see the format kept as before.Raymond J was beaut.Should be one of the hits of the year i would think.
    As for it coming back permanently,i think it would get stale very quickly.
    A lot of the artists have other careers now.
    If it were to make a come back it is time for the show to mature.When it moved from mornings to evenings the kid became a teenager,now its time to become an adult.An 8.30 or 9.30 slot is perfect for a more grown up approach.But keep the insanity.
    One last thing…i have never been a fan of Russell Gilbert (sorry) but your chef skit was amusing.Goes to show you that comedy is severely lacking on our screens!!
    Look forward to next week,then it will rate it’s you know what off.Go Ossie.

  16. I loved it!! one of the best shows ever. I dont know why they took it off. I always used to watch it while I was getting ready to go out on a Saturday night, I think everyone did.

    Note: I f**king love Dickie!!! He is an absolute hoot!!! with Molly’s dog was hilarious!

  17. Really thought this show was going to be a flop, but I really enjoyed this for so many reasons other than nostalgia.

    Will watch regularly if Nine bring this back. Anything is better than Rove.

  18. Oh wow, that was fun! I miss this kind of television and watching it with my kids and seeing how much they enjoyed it was a bonus…. and brought back a lot of good memories.

    Jeez I hope they bring it back on a regular basis.

    Just leave the airhead “puffin muffins” bird out of it next time.
