UK fantasy series Primeval has been revived for two more series, three months after ITV axed the series.
Under a new co-production deal between ITV and UKTV the deal is for seven eps in its fourth series and six in its fifth. The deal was a result of interest from BBC America.
Series four will air in the UK in early 2011, starring Andrew Lee Potts, Hannah Spearitt, Ben Miller and Jason Flemyng.
“I am thrilled that ITV has agreed to this new deal, which will allow us to produce another 13 episodes of Primeval,” said Tim Haines, creative director of Impossible Pictures. “The confidence demonstrated in the programme’s continued success here and abroad will help us bring more big screen action and a whole host of new creatures roaring back into people’s living rooms.”
A US film is also in development. The series aired in Australia on Nine.

I’m sure when this show airs in other countries outside the UK it will be screen as 1 x 13 part series and not two. Splitting the series was just to give UKTV a carrot to get them to cough up some money. By the way – just to clarify this deal isn’t with the Australian UKTV it is the British UKTV that has the WATCH channel.
Great news!
I agree Matthew, I hated the way they axed it, especially with that awesome cliffhanger ep, I couldnt believe it, I am so glad they are doing 2 more series, even it it will be almost 2 years before it starts
This is awesome, it was a great cliff hanger if i recall correctly, looking forward to the resolution, even if its 15 to 21months away.
Ooh. This is unexpected.
Unfortunately the show just got cheesier as it went on, but it’s still good enough to turn your brain off and waste an hour.
Good news and bad I guess, Yay we get a 4th and 5th season but we have to wait over a year before it airs, so these will be on Nine around 2015 then?
yay, now waiting for GO! to air season 2 and 3, followed by these once they are out.
As someone who is already seen the first three seasons it looks like I am going have to wait until 2011 to see how the cliffhanger to season 3 is resolved.
