4cornersMonday night’s Four Corners promises a highly contentious episode, looking at the case of convicted paedophile Dennis Ferguson.

It asks “what does the community do with convicted child sex offenders when they’ve done their time?”

Last week Insight also looked at child sex abusers and the justice system.

Reporter Liz Jackson even speaks to Ferguson for the episode.

The program looks at Ferguson’s life and his crimes and asks if he is sorry for what he’s done and how he believes he should be treated.

The program talks to politicians, doctors and activists about the Ferguson case and the broader issues it raises. Is it possible for someone who has committed a crime against children to be re-integrated into society and, if so, how do we go about doing that?

It airs Monday 2nd November at 8.30pm on ABC1 and is replayed on Tuesday 3rd November at 11.35pm.

One Response

  1. Yes he’s a bad man and has done bad things to innocent children, but how can we blame Ferguson for wanting to be left in peace?

He didn’t set the penalty he was given and had served his time. Maybe the debate needs to be about penalties for crimes like this and how they need to be changed and made longer or maybe life imprison for those with no chance of rehabilitation?

The 4 Corners interview should be interesting though.
