Aussie-wood actors make their mark

Claire Van der Boom and David Hofllin join a growing list of Aussie actors getting US roles.

rushMore Aussie actors are making their way in the US.

TV Tonight hears former Neighbours regular David Hofllin has just finished shooting a guest role on US cable drama Big Love.

Hoflin played Oliver Barnes on the TEN soap in 2007-2008.

Meanwhile former Rush regular Claire Van der Boom will play folk singer Billie Tucker in Tough Trade, the first pilot for new cable network Epix to be directed by Academy Award winner Gavin Hood.

Other local faces making their way in the US lately include Josh Lawson, Grant Bowler, Sianoa Smit-McPhee, Dichen Lachman, and Matt Passmore -to name but a few…

  1. Steve Innes from Perth just wound up a half dozen episodes of NCIS LA for the new season (airs here later in 2010) and before that did some episodes of Reaper and Stargate Universe and as many as 5 episodes of 24 (airs next month on 7two).
    Never heard of him before and only just read about him in TV Week.
    Really great to hear of yet another of our homegrown guys getting solid work.

  2. Go Aussies!! Great to hear that Australians are doing so well in the U.S. market. I heard recently that Jason Gann sold his show Wilfred to a U.S. network and that Rebel Wilson sold her latest project to Ben Stiller’s company Red Hour. Both of them are set to star in the U.S. versions.
