Drama the winner in Timeshifting

Drama shows are said to be the most recorded in new Timeshifted ratings data.

Another peek into what’s going on in Timeshifted viewing lays in an article in today’s Australian.

It notes CSI and Midsomer Murders have so far topped the list of shows recorded and viewed later on digital video recorders.

OzTAM has been tracking the shows people record and watch later since December 27. Audiences have risen by 2.7 per cent under the new system.

CSI: New York attracted an additional 60,000 viewers. ABC3’s Jibber Jabber leapt from 33,000 live viewers to 71,000 including the full week’s viewing.

“The extra ratings could mean the difference to whether a program gets dropped or moved in the schedule,” TEN’s research chief, Doug Peiffer said.

Drama has proven the winner in Timeshifting, while Sport is recording the lowest increases.

  1. LOL @ Steven G. I agree Topfiled iks great Especially when I can now record two channels at once if I need to. Over summer it has not been that essential, but I am sure some of my faves will be given “new” timeslots that clash with other fave shows. Now I will be less stressed and more happy 🙂

  2. sport and news have to be watched live.

this obviouusly means that a show will probably last an extra week than normal because they have to wait for timeshifting right?

This means that we will unfortunately probably see more live sport on TV because the networks know people want to watch it live. Then drama will be shafted to a different time “because that will be watched in timeshift and we’ll still get the ratings”

  4. I record like a B*tch. I can’t stand watching a favourite show and being bombarded by adds that assault the senses and ruin the flow of a show or movie. I’d rather watch it a day or more late than watch it live. I love my set top recorder. I am sending Topfield a Valentines Day card this year !

Thats interesting. Ten/One will be the biggest loser on that one.
Hopefully this means more quality Drama on Australian TV.
