It’s about now I’m missing these guys

Sigh.... is it wrong to remember The Dream and The Ice Dream?

Sigh…. is it wrong to remember The Dream and The Ice Dream?

At the end of long-form sessions of Olympics you could always rely on Roy and HG to give us their own skewered-view of the games, with a robust, passionate look at games and the games atmosphere.

I know Greg Pickhaver recently hosted Bush Slam for the ABC, but it’s never quite the same without his partner.

Maybe Senator Conroy needs to add Roy and HG being back on the box as a condition of that $250m Rebate…

  1. Argh… Salt Lake City.. One of the best winter olympics ever!!.. Australia’s first ever gold medal, and the Ice Dream… How things have changed on 8 years.. To see any decent amount of live olympic events you have to pay for a subscription, Oh and then pay again for the olympics….Oh and then have the pleasure of watching commercials after paying twice…Thank god the next Olympics won’t be on 9…They will never be able to afford it, and Stokes won’t let it happen..

  2. I want to watch the games but Eddie Everywhere drives me nuts…he cant interview a person to save himself, he has an over inflated sense of worth and just generally drives me potty. Why cant Ken Sutcliffe do the evenings? Least he sounds vaguely knowledgeable.

  3. I’d at least be content if Ken Sutcliffe was hosting the night Winter Olympics programming as well. I think Eddie is more suited to hosting a chook raffle in Warnambool.

  4. Nine’s coverage has been pretty average to be honest, I watched the other night to see Eddie rant and rave about how Dale Begg-Smith got dudded – I reckon they analysied the footage for 2 hours….ended up switching off.

  5. But Beavis and Butthead are doing such a wonderful job on Nine, I’m hoping they’ll take their schtick on the road and do an RSL/leagues club tour on their return. It takes superior wit to make jokes about the sexuality of male figure skaters.

Seriously, nine must be desperate to appeal to the bogan and footy boofhead demographic if they want this pair of …wits to host a sport variety programme.

  6. Man I really do miss these guys. Their commentary of the gymnastics in the summer games is still a highlight of mine. I havent watched any of the coverage this year; i just dont see the point.

  7. He he. The games aren’t the same without them. More Roy and HG and less Eddie “Everywhere”. Roy and HG unquie take on the Olympics (interviews, commentaries) have always been special. I have loved every interview they have done with their humour, compare that to Eddie’s which can send anyone to sleep.

P.S – I have only been watching Foxtel’s Olympic coverage which has been wonderful, with every event live. Shame on nine, for being as boring as always.

  8. That does make me sigh, for the good old days. I can’t believe it was roughly a decade ago that I got all that enjoyment out of watching them during the syd olympics- time goes too fast.

  9. I couldn’t agree more with this. Even if you didn’t likethe events for the day, they would always put a brilliant spin on the events.

A classic they had was the commentary to the figure skating. “this is the brother and sister duo in the routine ‘Love that dare not speak it’s name'”. Always gold with them.
