Kyle to join Australia’s Got Talent

Updated: "I have always been a massive fan of the show and can’t wait to get behind the desk of Australia's only free-for-all talent show."

Kyle Sandilands is set to return to judging TV talent on Australia’s Got Talent, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The controversial radio man, who has previously been tipped to join the show, will reportedly announce his judging role on his breakfast show tomorrow.

Sandilands was famously dumped by Australian Idol following a controversial radio stunt last year, but later acknowledged he understood the reasons behind the network’s move.

The newspaper says neither Seven nor Sandilands’s agent Andrew Hawkins returned calls on the question of his AGT role, but noted that TV industry sources confirmed it.

Dannii Minogue is also set to return but so far the network is yet to confirm any judges.

Red Symons is tipped to return to Hey Hey It’s Saturday which could still leave a third role open for revamping. Brian McFadden’s name has also been rumoured, while Tom Burlinson may miss out on a judging chair.

Auditions for the show begin around the country this weekend.

Updated: Seven confirms Sandilands.

“I am thrilled to be joining Channel Seven – so Australia, you think you’ve got talent – I am going to be the new judge of that,” Sandilands said today.

“Singers, dancers, comedians – if you have an act worth watching or think you have what it takes to be a star – we want you. I have always been a massive fan of the show and can’t wait to get behind the desk of Australia’s only free-for-all talent show.”

  1. Kyle is fine. McFadden is a tool , as anyone who has watched Football Superstar can attest. Surely somone should be asking ” Does this guy have a work permit? and if so….why???”

  2. what does he know about talent. nothing as far as i know. 7 must be thinking he will be like simon cowel. but the thing is simon cowel knew what he was talking about

  3. ‘Cos if we’ve learned one thing about Kyle from the incident that got him sacked, it’s that he’s great with kids (an abdunance of which are contestants and/or viewers).

  4. I know (beleive me I know) I’m in the minority but this will make me watch AGT. Kyle was at his best judging people during the Idol auditions (where teh crazy people come to play) and that is basically the entire season of AGT. I will watch.

If nothing else there are a million more radio listeners to which AGT will be advertised to free of charge.

  5. Only 2 reasons Ch7 brought back AGT..

1> Australian Idol isnt running this Year
2> To screw Ch9 on Hey Hey it’s Saturday having Red/Molly on Ch7 they can’t be on Hey Hey now!

  6. Why would anyone want to be associated with this idiot. Bad move Seven. Contrived controversy can equal “boring” too! Let’s hope the ratings drop or he oversteps the mark (as usual) quickly so he can be replaced.

Most companies wouldn’t pay someone to reduce their brand value.

  7. All sorts of unpalatable things would get ratings – public executions, porn, an interview with Hitler (if he were here), Sam Newman. That doesn’t mean they should be on television. Why is bad behaviour so regularly rewarded?

  8. So it’s true.. S**t really does rise to the top?

I wonder how many times he can name drop about how he was at Paris Hilton’s house for a party etc..
