Charlie Sheen appears in court

Charlie Sheen showed little emotion and said nothing during his brief arraignment in a Colorado court.

Charlie Sheen has appeared in a Colorado court and pleaded not guilty to domestic violence charges following an incident on Chistmas Day in Aspen.

The Two and a Half Men star is charged with menacing, criminal mischief and assault, carrying a potential sentence of one to three years in prison.

Sheen is said to have shown little emotion but said nothing during his brief arraignment, with the plea entered on his behalf. Sheen has previously denied threatening his wife with a knife or choking her, telling officers they had slapped each other on the arms and that he had snapped two pairs of her eyeglasses in front of her, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

No new details emerged about the December incident.

Meanwhile Sheen is expected return to the set of his CBS comedy this week, but will still spend nights in rehab.

“Charlie is looking forward to going back to work for the final four episodes of Two and Half Men,” says the show’s executive producer, Mark Burg. “He’s also looking forward to clearing his name, putting all of this behind him and spending time with his kids during his hiatus.”

A three-day trial is set beginning on July 21st, but the case could end with a plea deal. Experts say most cases like Sheen’s end without significant jail time, given that Mueller did not suffer serious physical injury and the actor’s lack of multiple convictions.

His next hearing date is April 19th, but he’s not required to show in person.
