Charlie Sheen in rehab, sitcom on hiatus.

"Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation centre," his publicist said, as CBS shuts down his sitcom.

Production of Two and Half Men has been shutdown following star Charlie Sheen entering rehab.

Publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said, “Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation centre today.

“He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern.”

It follows Sheen being rushed to hospital suffering from severe abdominal pain amid unconfirmed reports of a 36-hour drug and drink-fuelled party at his home.

Father and actor Martin Sheen is said to have stepped in and insisted his son enter rehab after spending time at the hospital in an effort to convince his son he needed professional help.

CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre said in a statement, “We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision.”

The Hollywood Reporter says Lorre has confided to some associates in the last several says that he was distraught over Sheen’s activities and was at a loss over how to get through to him.

Last week in an appearance on Conan, co-star Jon Cryer said working with Sheen was “always a little weird because like the stuff you hear is just unbelievable.

“I mean like… I’m checking TMZ, as I do everyday, to know if I have to go to work at all.”

The show has a 24-episode order and has already taped 16 episodes. Only two of those have not aired. It is unclear whether the series will be able to produce all of its remaining eight episodes.

“I’m fine,” Sheen told Radar Online Senior Executive Editor Dylan Howard via text message on Friday afternoon, around the time news broke that he had entered rehab.

“People don’t seem to get it…. Guy can’t have a great time and do his job also?”

Last February, Sheen also entered rehab for an unspecified problem, forcing his sitcom to temporarily suspend production.

  1. @ Jake
Pretty sure you mean ‘Charlie’ and not ‘Martin’ – but if not, I like where you’re taking us!
So I say get rid of Martin Sheen, Charlie Sheen ,Mr Sheen, Emilio Estevez and anything even faintly Sheeny while we’re about it!
Actually I don’t mind Martin Sheen.
    Mr Sheen’s useful too.

  2. I say get rid of Martin Sheen…just sack him. As a celebrity he has many impressionable fans out there who consider him as a role model. He is pathetic at least and should just be thrown off the show. Come to think of it I think it’s time that the show shuts down and shuts down permanently as it is without doubt a lame and totally unintelligent program…..

  3. @owl – Ain’t that the truth girlfriend! Used to be that Betty Ford would sort your celebrity issues right out, but nowdays they come out as screwed up as whens they went in. Charlie jus’ cain’t get hisself any of that tough love his whitey ass needs at today’s rehabs.

@Craig – me too sister! That woman that plays Berta ain’t getting any younger, or thinner. She gotta make what she can while she can, and Charlie always gettin’ in trouble with the professional ladies and the bricks of Mexican marching powder ain’t helpin’ that sister earn her keep.

  4. Guys remember Nine only showed a handful of eps from the current season before xMas so they have round 13 to air… that should get them by for the next 40 ratings weeks 😆

  5. You have to wonder how effective “rehab” is with all these celebs constantly going in and out – must be reunion city in those places. How come we mere mortals have to take responsibility for what we drink, inject, smoke eat or pop, or have a “sexual addiction” (one of my favourites) and yet those we put on pedestals don’t??

  6. oh no!!!! what will 9 do when there is no more new episodes of 2 and a half men!!!! or even the axe is upon it!!!!!!! i suppose that would just mean another 1million repeats of the same episodes that has already gone on repeat for the 2millionith time!!!!!!! oh please no!!!!

  7. I feel sorry for the other actors not paid as much as the 3 leads, they usually aren’t paid huge sums and not just the actors, all the crew ans support staff. If the show folds or doesn’t shoot any more eps this season then that’s 8 weeks lost work or more they won’t get back.

Also have to wonder if stars have a morals clause the network could enforce so they can be fired without haven’t to pay out the rest of their contract?

I just hope we don’t get a news story about an OD or car crash in the near future.

  8. Yeah, Charlie’s having “a great time” all right. I always know I’m having a great time when I end up in hospital. Must ring work tomorrow and tell them I won’t be in this week due to “unspecified problems”, I’m sure they’ll be cool about it.
