MTV ice erection shocks US town

The good folk of Truckee, California, got a bit of a shock when an extreme MTV series pranked the town. Warning: Picture may offend.

It sounds like the kind of idea The Chaser boys would get up to….

But the town of Truckee (yes that’s it’s real name), California, are fuming after a TV stunt by MTV reality series The Dudesons In America misled town officials and offended families.

The Finnish extreme comedians, filming an upcoming series produced by Jackass‘ Johnny Knoxville, got approval to build an 8 foot ice sculpture in the middle of the tourist town, but they didn’t tell anybody quite what it was they were planning.

Locals were shocked to discover a large penis-shaped snow sculpture, complete with spouting water, in front of their train depot.

Town Manager Tony Lashbrook said MTV approached the town to acquire a permit for filming and said the crew was specifically asked if the sculpture would be distasteful, graphic or pornographic.

“It turns out they were less than truthful in answering direct questions from at least two town officials,” Lashbrook said.

Chamber of Commerce president Lynn Saunders, whose office looks out onto the depot parking lot said, “Needless to say we were surprised and dismayed they misrepresented what they were going to to do here in our nice, cute, wholesome town.”

The scenes filmed for MTV also included men dancing around the completed erection…

Truckee resident Darla Ford, complained to the Sierra Sun newspaper, “We were so appalled that something like this could take place in our town. Parents were rushing their children away from it so they would not have to explain why grown men wearing fur were drinking the white fluid and dancing in it too,” she wrote in an e-mail.

“It was disgusting! Is this a new image for our town? Who issued a permit for this to take place? How did this happen? This is right in front of our Chamber of Commerce and California Visitor Center.”

MTV has since said it filed all the correct permits but that, “It was never the intent to reference the Town of Truckee in the production.”

Truckee is still hoping MTV won’t air the offending footage.

Good luck with that.

  1. I live in Truckee, and I think this rocks! I’m not young, I’m in my late 40s. What’s the big deal? Yes, our town actually exists. Instead of all the people in our little town talking about who’s cheating with whom, now they can talk about someone with a really big C**k! The more you ponder on the prank the more people will be talking about it. Good for them! Hey all the people who are really complaining are those from the Valley, (Squaw Valley). They’re just jellous!

  2. If they really cared about the town’s image they wouldn’t be kicking up a fuss. They’re playing right into MTV’s hands and exposing the town to the wider media far more than would happen if they just laugh it off and let it go to air pretty much unnoticed.

  3. Nice little town Truckee – for those unfamiliar, it is located on the Donner Pass between Sacramento and Reno Nevada. It is in the general area of where the Donner party became snow bound in the late 1800’s and turned to canibalism. Not making any jokes about eating anything.
