FOX Sports unveiled new technology as part of the 2010 Hyundai A-League Grand Final on the weekend.

During the Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC match at Etihad Stadium fans it introduced new broadcast technology with unique performance data.

The SportVU system, developed by sports technology company was first trialled in Australia during FOX Sports’ coverage of the Hyundai A-League Preliminary Final in mid March.

The SportVU technology enhances the viewing experience by displaying never before seen real-time information highlighting player and ball speeds, accumulated distances, fitness graphs and coverage map.

foxsports.com.au also featured the SportVU technology in The GameZone along with photographic images from the match as it unfolds.

Bring back the choice of different camera angels during the games,with the AFL,as they once did.Watching the team of your choice in the huddle during the break,at quarter time and 3/4 time and also seeing the change rooms,at half time and full time,and of course the different angels you can look at during the game,missed this last year

  2. Great for nerds, boring for football fans.

    Fox Sports have had years of overseas examples of useful grahic tools e.g.
    > 10m chart a free kicks
    > offside last man shading

    It takes paying another cameraman and not estimating how fit a player is as most are by nature very fit. Even Serie A highlights on ONE as bad as they are have better tech than almost any sport coverage in Australia except for Cricket (snicko) and Tennis (line calls)
