Questions for Molloy ahead of Defamation case

A former SA Labor candidate has filed pre-trial questions ahead of a Defamation case against comedian Mick Molloy and Network TEN over Before the Game comments.

Former South Australian Labor candidate Nicole Cornes has filed pre-trial questions with the Supreme Court ahead of a Defamation case against comedian Mick Molloy and Network TEN.

Cornes, who is married to former Adelaide Crows coach Graham Cornes, is seeking damages over a comment he allegedly made on Before the Game in July 2008 questioning her fidelity by insinuating she slept with a former Port Adelaide player.

News.com.au notes in her questions she asks Molloy if he talked to people not associated with the show about the incident and what he told them. She also asks Molloy, who made an on-air apology for the comment, who paid him for his appearance and where it was shot.

Cornes was featured in an episode of Australian Story which included her loss in a 2007 election. During the episode it was revealed that she had been campaigning while also appearing in court as the victim in a child abuse case.

TEN says the nature of the Roving Enterprises show made it clear the comment was not intended to be taken seriously.

The trial will begin in November.
