Rumour: New Seven drama

Seven is casting for a new dramedy that focusses on 4 women in their early 30s who meet up at a school reunion.

Seven is believed to be ramping up its local drama slate with a new series in the pipeline.

TV Tonight hears the network is casting for a new dramedy that focusses on 4 women in their early 30s with the title Winners & Losers.

The series begins with a group of girls meeting up at a school reunion, where they learn each others’ fortunes have changed. A one-time school bully is now unsuccessful in life, while another has reinvented themselves to become the CEO of a company.

The Melbourne-based series is to begin under director Nick Buffalo with a pilot to be shot in May. Seven is understood to be eyeing a 9:30 or 8:30 timeslot for the show.

Some years ago TEN decided not to proceed with the female-driven series Secretary while Seven had a relatively brief run with the male-dominated Last Man Standing. A reunion was also the inciting factor for Out of the Blue, shot for the UK and aired on TEN.

  1. It’s good to see that they are making another Aussie drama. . . But I would still rather have All Saints on my tv every Tuesday night. If channel 7 say they don’t have the funds to keep one already successfull tv show running how can they have the funds to get an all new drama off the ground?

  2. People should give things like this a chance.Off the topic a little why hasn’t anyone thought about the concept of a two and a half women programme or three women and a daughter.

  3. It is great to see that Seven are trying something new. This is what Australia needs, more Aussie Drama instead of pulling more and more series from overseas. Its always best to have Aussie Drama on our screens and Seven have always been the leaders of the pack when it comes to great drama. Sure there have been a few bad eggs but look at America they have 10-12 bad eggs a season or even more.

Aussie Drama will always have a place in my home despite me not liking UB i will always test each series on its merits. If UB3 is like UB2 then i wont be watching plain and simple.

PTTR is Seven’s benchmark and now they need to try a few more Aussie Dramas. It would have been nice to still have All Saints on our screens but thats been and gone now just like Blue Heelers.

I have heard in the grapevines though that Seven have up to 3 new projects in the works, one being a new medical drama, this i guess is one of the other 2.

  4. I heard that Kate Jenkinson and Rebel Wilson who both worked with Buffalo before have been talked about for this series. They’re both quality actresses.
