Sunrise coping with Justin Bieber frenzy

Canadian kid Justin Bieber is so wildly popular that Sunrise has had to abandon its initial concert plans and secure a bigger venue.

Hang on to your tweens Australia, Justin Bieber isn’t just coming to our shores this Saturday, he’s practically taking over.

The Canadian kid who is perpetually trending #1 on Twitter is performing on Sunrise, but producers have had to relocate his concert to meet his popularity.

Now instead of the ‘Brekky Central Plaza’ he will be performing at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Sydney’s Circular Quay on Monday April 26th.

In his only Australian public performance, Bieber will be performing three songs from his new album including the hit single “Baby”. He will also be interviewed by Kochie and will meet fans and sign copies of his new album My Worlds – but only for a limited time.

Sunrise Producer Adam Boland says “This will be as big as it gets. We are over the moon Justin chose Sunrise for this gig. Bring it on.”

Bieber has already generated more traffic on the show’s own Twitter than any other event.

Last October when he performed at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York some fans started lining up the prior afternoon. Seriously dedicated. And with a public holiday next week it’s bound to be huge.

Get some sleep kids. Sunrise starts at 6am.

(with apologies to the Jonas Brothers)

  1. I must have missed this one. Who exactly is he ? I guess in a few months it won’t matter.

Another fine effort by David Koch as well. Although it does not top him jumping into the ambulance outside the Beaconsfield mine.

  2. So once again, News and Current Affairs take a back seat on Sunrise.

Take Nat and the “news” desk away, change the timeslot, and Seven have a Variety show on their hands at no extra cost.

    The Tonight Show with Kochie…..

  3. I just got back from New Zealand last week & this little twink is everywhere there too, that Baby song is all over radio & the press are in a frenzy as he’s coming to New Zealand.
I pity the poor parents who will be taking their little darlings along & have to sit through hours of high pitched screaming.

  4. @Alan – dawn service will be on ANZAC Day, Sunday 25, not the public holiday, Monday 26.

I remember watching this kid on YouTube years ago. I think I got a random friend invite or something. he’s come a long way – good on him!

  5. I wonder if Barry O’Farrell will try and meet Justin as Barry apparently is a big fan of the little person. Barry must really want to the youth vote.

  6. Now that is huge, hosting a Sunrise concert at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal for the first time. Melbourne radio station 3AW has been hosting a competition to find the craziest Justin Bieber fan (it closes on April 20). The winner and his/her parent will fly to Sydney to see the concert and meet him backstage.
