Axed: Heroes, Mercy, Trauma
Heroes doesn't enough superpower to survive the axe as NBC pulls the pin on several of his drama series.

More axings this week….
SciFi drama Heroes has been axed by NBC. Despite seriously being considered for a shortened final season, the high cost of the drama, declining ratings and the number of new hour-longs coming to NBC next season, dictated its demise.
Sources say the network is still leaving the door open to conclude the show with a special or movie.
EW.com has also reported sources are saying hospital drama Mercy and emergency drama Trauma are also dead.
FlashForward, which was speculated to have been cut, is now confirmed as axed.
All four shows have been Seven titles in Australia.

@jakevin, every show that is axed makes room for a new show. so if a show that people don’t watch is axed it is good news for them because they might like the replacement.
@Michael. rules of enagement and gary unmarried do not do that badly, GU has improved since last year and it got renewed then. but Accidentally on purpose and New adventures of old christine are highly likely to get axed.
@ rhys – i thought the same thing ,imo heroes was a dumbed down version of the much smarter 4400.
@jakevin: the reason why people consider a show’s axing as good news is because the show in question has most likely decreased in quality and likability so much that the only good thing left in that show is the idea that it will all come to an end, and be put out of its misery.
A show’s axing also encourages its writers to ramp up the quality and give it a good ending. 24 is a great example- I love the series and will be sad to see it go, but, I’d rather it end now and save face, instead of going on year after year with decking story quality. That would just ruin its branding.
I loved Mercy and was shattered when it went to digital. From the episodes I saw I thought it had potential.
I can live with Rules Of Engagement being axed David Spade is incredibly grating
Justice has finally been served! Heroes was a show that started out good, but seriously deteriated in quality during it’s second and third seasons, all due to the creator’s lack of vision, preparation and direction. The story ended up
making no sense because the writers changed their mind far too often when it came to where they wanted to direct the story.
Others are correct about Heroes losing its way (and appeal) after the first couple of seasons. I always thought the show borrowed heavily from The 4400 in both plot and style. At least The 4400 managed to cobble together some kind of conclusion before its axing after four seasons.
@Anon although still not announced CBS will most likely kill Gary Unmarried, Accidentally On Purpose and Rules of Engagement
Mercy was terrible. I didn’t see how it was any different to all the other medical dramas out there.
I’ll agree with what’s been said, I couldn’t get enough of Heroes season 1… it was awesome, and then came the rather lacklustre S1 finale, and then it pretty much went downhill from there… Mercy and Trauma have been ok to watch, but I won’t miss their demise… Surely ER would be on the list soon enough…
ER ended yonks ago.
I was still a fan of Heroes but the writing was on the wall with series 4.
Here’s hoping for the Telemovie/Mini Series though
How can shows being axed ever be *good* news? I’m pretty sure that if you don’t want to watch these shows, then you can turn off. With the additional channels like 7TWO and the fact that these shows are often moved to late nights it shouldn’t really affect you if they stay on the air. And I’m positive most would have a collection of strong fans making in *Sad* news if anything!
I hope they make a Heroes special or movie coz that was a weak finale this year.
Heroes really could’ve been wrapped in the third season. Sad news for fans who wanted a finish with a bang, not a whimper.
Wow.. been watching Heroes since the start. Hope they have a decent ending in store and haven’t been caught too much by surprise.
I think we all liked to pretend Heroes was axed after season 1.
Heroes season 1 was brilliant, one of the best shows on tv. Season 2 was alright but it just got worse and i completely gave up on it. Saw some of the last season but didn’t know what the hell was going on.
I like Mercy, but not surprised. James van der Beek has killed the show for me though.
Like Flashforward too, hopefully they can give it a finale. Would hate to see it just finish.
So 3 shows for Seven are gone!
Still hope Heroes can be wrapped with a TV movie or 4 hour Mini series/special event.
Any news about the UK L&O, and when TEN will air the remaining eps?
Any news on Accidentally on Purpose, or have CBS not made a comment about it yet?
Damn, not a good year for Channel Seven!! a lot of their shows are
getting axed this year or have ended their run on both 7 and 7Two!
24, Ugly Betty, Heroes, Lost, Scrubs, Trauma, Mercy, Flash Forward, Stargate
even the last couple of years more shows were axed which some are now airing on 7Two.
at least it makes more room for new shows, even with 7Two.
No surprises given their low ratings
NBC has also confirmed Law &order is gone. SVU is renewed, and LA is picked up. (but will be produced by universal.
Sad that mercy has to be axed but with the ratings I guess it was no surprise.
Apparently NBC’s new fall slate is the best development its had in years. We could see a resurgence for them this year like ABC had with DH, Lost and Grey’s in 2004
I liked Heroes, IMO Chapters 1-3 were good but 4 and 5 were too slow…and nothing really happened in the past few seasons to move the plot forward
Finally! Heroes being cancelled may be the best news I’ve heard all day!
I have to say that NBC are on a roll. Cancelled: Mercy, Heroes, Law & Order… but they’re keeping Community and Parks & Recreation. This is all good news in my book.
