Axed: The Sarah Silverman Program

Comedy Central has opted not to renew The Sarah Silverman Program, despite a fervent Twitter campaign to save it.

She gained YouTube notoriety with her video parody ‘I’m F***ing Matt Damon’ but Comedy Central has opted not to renew The Sarah Silverman Program for a fourth season, despite a fervent Twitter campaign to save it.

The axe was not unexpected. Comedy Central had already moved the show from primetime to midnight during its third season, which concluded in the US in April.

Silverman‘s show was consciously provocative and controversial with Silverman’s satirical comedy tackling social taboos including racism, sexism, and religion.

In Australia it first aired on the Comedy Channel in February 2009.

Silverman recently published a memoir which is attracting good reviews from surprised critics who have dubbed it “sweet, funny, real and, dare I say it, occasionally even touching.”

  1. the world needs more shows like hers. It was clever, funny and most importantly unique. The Brian and Steve storylines are generally the highlights.

  2. I’ve really enjoyed this show; it never got the attention or acclaim that it deserved. Truly smart, funny, subversive comedy that, unfortunately, went right over the heads of most people.
