  1. PS: If it weren’t for the anti siphoning laws they laws they could have kept the more general interest event Jess on Ten while showing the Footy on sports channel ONE. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the potential impact of changes to the anti-siphoning laws on sport like AFL in relation to Pay TV as well as use of the second digital channels. How would being able to show AFL on 7TWO impact viewers in NSW/QLD being able to watch more AFL live and would Foxtel find itself being outbid by free to air channels that can then show all games as ‘niche’ programming on secondary channels. There are big stakes at risk in Conroy’s review and as this government is the champion of ‘working families’ will they favour free TV as opposed to Pay TV? How would Rupert react to that?

  2. David, would love to hear if the people at ONE have any comments to make about Nine’s stealing of their footage in light of the ratings. It was unfortunate for Ten that they had to cut the show on the main channel to go to the footy while those without digital TV missed the rest of the show on One allowing Nine to take the edge.

  3. Every best wish to capitalise on your awesome achievements. May you – your Family and your supporters; all profit from the dedicated endurance and dedication you have exercised in creating this sensational record. We join with all our Family to Congratulate you on achieving so much far beyond your years would have us expect of you. We think you are our Young Australian of the Year among many other titles you may receive. You are a remarkable inspiration to us all. Thank You Jessica!!

  4. Jessica’s arrival was more than worthy enough for AFL to be cancelled after all its just another footy game. The one off event should never have been bumped off, not all people has access or wants too have access to One.

7 was similar switching to V8’s at 3:30pm and switching there coverage to 7two. There main channel didn’t miss the main event though.

  5. Well, What a fantastic achievement by Jessica! I do agree with Dave that it was more important to see Jessica’s sensational arrival on Ten than an B-grade AFL game between the Sydney Swans and Western Bulldogs. Good on One HD for an complete telecast!

  6. @ Craig–

If as an AFL fan you were pi**ed off at TEN going to the Sydney/Western Bulldogs coverage 8 Minutes late, which was still Before the start of the game, your pathetic!

Jessica Watson’s homecoming is definately worthy of “breaking news” status.

  7. I think it’s a remarkable achievement by Jessica and she deserves all of the accolades she will receive.

I hope the ones who poured cold water on her departure those months ago will enjoy eating the large serve of humble pie coming their way’!!
