AFL: Sir Doug Nicholls Round

AFL's Sir Doug Nicholls Round recognises the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Seven screens the AFL’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round live over two weekends, headlined by the Dreamtime blockbuster between traditional rivals Richmond and Essendon next Saturday night.

The Front Bar will return at 9.00pm tonight with one of the Northern Territory’s most respected footballers, Michael “Magic” McLean. Talking Footy follows.

A mainstay of the AFL calendar, the 2024 Sir Doug Nicholls Round will celebrate the theme “Spirit Strong, Game On”, which recognises the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Kicking off in the Top End with Thursday night’s Gold Coast SUNS v Geelong Cats clash at TIO Stadium in Darwin, Seven’s team will broadcast live from the ground at 7.00pm AEST, with Darwin-born Shaun Burgoyne behind the microphone, alongside Alister Nicholson, Luke Darcy, Joel Selwood and Erin Phillips.

Then, on Friday Night Footy, football’s #1 commentary team will head to the SCG as the ladder-leading Sydney Swans host Carlton in the annual Marn Grook game, from 7.00pm AEST live and free on Channel 7 and 7mate.

First week of Sir Doug Nicholls Round:

Saturday, 18 May: Brisbane Lions v Richmond at The Gabba, 7.00pm AEST live on Seven / 7mate
Sunday, 19 May: Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide) v Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval, 3.00pm AEDT live on Seven / 7mate
