May 26 is now shaping up as a very big night of television all round.

Nine has the first State of Origin, which will no doubt win the night (Hey Hey is off for the night).

Seven has the fan-frenzied Lost finale.

TEN has just extended MasterChef out to 90 minutes -on the night when its off-site team challenges have been scoring with viewers. It will surely be strong in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. That pushes Lie to Me out to 9pm and Law and Order: CI to10pm.

It’s even a big night over in Pay TV with the penultimate episode of American Idol. The final two singers will sing off for votes, with the winner announced the night after, May 27th.

Which way will you be going?

  1. I used to love Origin nights when “Roy & HG” did the commentary on the Triple J Network. Since they moved over to Triple M, the night of entertainment just has not been the same.

Origin always wins with the ratings whether I watch it or not ;0)

  2. IIRC last year, Nine didn’t win the night that one of the games was on (but was the highest rated shows).

SoO will win in Sydney and Brisbane. The other states will be split between the Lost finale and Masterchef. Both these shows will also rate highly in the timeshifted figures in all states.

Oh, and go the maroons 🙂

  3. Definitely Lost. It’s been an exciting 6-season ride, a rollercoaster of twists and turns intermingled with exhilerating highs and stomach-dropping shocks. I can’t wait to see how it all ends!

  4. For what it’s worth – Lost finale for me – even though I haven’t watched it season one. SOO is soooooooo boring since the Tasmanian-points deducted/ got eliminated/ evicted/ disqualified/ knocked-out/ salarycapbanned/ drug charges pending/ I’ve let down my mates and I’m truly sorry/ mergedwiththeNT scandal. Oh for the simple days of rugby league players picking up ya garbage bins in the morning, then representing Australia v. the Poms in the afternoon. Those were the days when men were men and guys with silly names were picked on in the school yard.. Try telling that to the young’ns of t’day.

  5. state of origin will run rampant on that night. 2 million plus to about 1 million i reckon

go qld and gawd i hope they smash the bunch of panzies that play the bllues

  6. ABC are about to announce another option for the same night. An evening of Kevin Rudd interviewing himself as he counts the points off on his fingers. Lateline replaced with a slow-motion replay of same.

  7. I’ve heard, on the quiet, that if you wear your 3D specs from the movies, you can watch the State of Origin on a normal tv in full 3D. It only works if you concentrate really hard for 80 minutes.

  8. So we have the choice of… Irritating perfomers; Who watches this show?; Braindead personalities or teary wannabes. Pick the show. (Hey Hey doesn’t count as it qualifies for all four.)
