Nine in the dark on South Park

It's now clear that Nine had next to no idea of the content of the South Park "Bloody Mary" episode until reported by TV Tonight.

It’s now clear that Nine had next to no idea of the content of the South Park “Bloody Mary” episode until this article appeared on Friday on TV Tonight.

It pulled the episode from its Tuesday night GO! slot by Friday afternoon.

The controversial episode was withheld by SBS in 2006 after protests over its sensitive religious content.

The Australian today reports Nine is understood to have consulted SBS about the episode, with a Nine spokesman confirming it was deemed to have “a very confronting story line, which with the best will in the world is difficult to defend”.

The episode has already been screened by the Comedy Channel in Australia.

Over 600 poll readers have already voted overwhelmingly for GO! to stick to its original schedule with 80% voting “Yes. Screw you guys! Put the damn episode back on.”

Nine is yet to comment on enquiries from TV Tonight.

  1. @ Paull

For me personally, I can tell you that there’s nothing that makes me sadder than the thought of someone that believes in hell.

  2. It’s funny how many people slammed Ch7 for filming and airing footage of Mr Campbell Skulking away from a Gay Club in his ministerial car. Whilst jumping all over GO! for not airing one episode of South Park.

Take it from me any TV Channel that would air Dante’s Cove is not running a religious agenda. Some of the Dante’s Cove stuff can’t be seen on You Tube!! The South Park stuff is.

  3. @James H: Wow! I wish you could tell me which programme that was, because that’s shocking, and, to tell you the truth, christianity, as revealed in the bible, couldn’t be further from that statement you made.

A programme that calls itself ‘Christian’ and yet rejoices in those who burn in hell, should really think about coming up with a new name for its beliefs, because any show (or person for that matter) that truly is Christian, would lament (mourn) those that go to hell.

For me personally, I can tell you that there’s nothing that makes me sadder than the thought of someone going to hell. 🙁
